Keep in mind, too, that this is a Model M2—not to be confused with the Model M that preceded it.

The M2 was IBM's last, halfhearted stab at a mechanical board. They'd already carelessly lost the PC market, and were cutting costs wherever they could. Here, that primarily meant a much smaller and flimsier case, a plastic plate rather than the M's steel, and unreliable 2nd-rate electronics. So the good news is, it probably doesn't matter how much they want for it. Cheerio, chaps!
