Title: Tap Wearable Keyboard and Mouse -- Has Anyone Seen This?
Post by: fer.real on Tue, 16 October 2018, 06:22:48
https://www.tapwithus.com/ (https://www.tapwithus.com/)

I came across this in a random web search.  It's a wearable device that acts as a one-handed keyboard and mouse.  It looks gimmicky and it's not mechanical, but it's interesting because it's chorded.  What do you think of it?

It's certainly interesting - immediately I think it would be good for phone typing in the rain.

Not sure about wearing a chunky rubber ring on every finger all day though as that sounds sweaty, though I don't like to judge without trying it.

Other than that it's useless - I don't have android or ios so there's no way to learn how to use it :))

If you already get annoyed by people on the train tapping on stuff to music in their headphones, this is not something you want to succeed.
Which it won't. It is a chorded keyboard. There have been many portable chorded keyboards, and all have failed to become mainstream.

Annoying web site one screen per sentence, vertical videos etc ...
"First wearable keyboard and mouse": Not even close.
It is made of "Hardward" apparently ...
"Ergonomic": No, tapping hard on a surface is well-known to NOT be good for your fingers. Restricting blood flow for hours on end can't be good.
"Children can develop programming & coding skills": Oh, maybe in programming apps "for kids". Programming is not for kids. Programming is hard.

Website name: "Tabwit house". No, I don't want to visit a house of tapwits thank you.

rrrr....  there are easier ways to accomplish entry, namely voice,

The barrier to entry is too high for this..

Voice doesn't work in a meeting. And it doesn't work accurately enough some kinds of text walking down the street.

I tried the Tap but found it very unreliable. Particularly because I had used a physical chording keyboard before and achiefed close to 100% accuracy. I just posted about that here. Anyone interested in one built into a phone case? https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=101300.0
