What an overcomplicated mess.

Anyhow, I did some digging, and it looks like an early BZ series switch such as these:

Newer ones are rated for around 20m presses, and just like the Omron D2f in your mouse, these have a terrible low maximum force before the leaf spring starts to deform causing false triggering. A keyboard full of these? No thanks.

As for the giant switch, find someone with a 3d printer, at that scale a common home printer can easily make one, size being the only real problem.
