Count me in.

Prefer Carbon Fiber, but I'll take Poly too

Any chance we could also get PCBs? I know he posted the files but I wouldn't be able to do anything with them. I would love some extra pcbs. Haha

I have another alice coming in December (hopefully) and would love to try a poly plate.

A half-plate poly / brass plate would be great too!  ;D

So far there are 14 responses, about 3/4 of them are saying that they would like polycarb.

Two new fabs have been contacted with requests for quotes (and a possible third has been found), and I will update the thread as more info comes in.

LightningXI has been very helpful (did all the groundwork) in finding me fabs that have a few options for materials.

Right now, it's looking like there will be polycarb plates for sure, and CF plates will be a smaller component of this GB since I am a big fan of them. Depends on pricing, they might not get run at all.

There is no option to select both PC and CF in the form - when if both run I’d like to grab them....

Filled and submitted with preference anyhow.

Poly plate is exactly what I've been wanting since the start. I actually enquired at a few places myself but with no luck. I have a spare (purple!) PCB and an acrylic plate ready to use in lieu of a polycarb one being available. Might attempt to dremel the acrylic into a half plate if I know I can get a poly one on the go.

One extra request: Clear not frosted, please, with the big gaps on this board it'd be rad to see through to the PCB.

Anyway, in for poly, not for CF.

I was hoping for clear, and I think it's cheaper. How'd you get a spare PCB? Just message yuktsi?

I wonder how that happened to your plate.  I'd be in for a clear PC plate.

I talked to Sam about it, the short version is that the coating on the plates is thinner than the coating on the weights (hence why my weight is fine), so my overhandling of the plate may have worn off some of the coating. Could also have come from me rubbing it on something mildly abrasive (which makes a lot of sense considering I built it in a fab shop at my college). That, plus the humidity in my room, makes for this weirdness. I could clean it up with some brasso, but I don't really feel like doing that every month that I'm here. Easier to just get a PC or CF plate.

He prolly ordered an extra from the GB

oh tru

The purple ones were protos he decided not to go with for the GB, I'd just seen a pic of one he posted on insta or something ages ago and asked for it when I ordered. Pretty sure there aren't any more of those but I don't know about the regular green ones. Worth asking I guess.

Waiting for the second new quote to be returned. I'd like to start this buy in January, so I'll probably email a few more places after this one. Currently my highest priority.

Greypunk is stalled mostly due to me not wanting to run another keyset GB, and my board is in progress but not nearly ready for IC, let alone GB. Soon, though. I think I'll try and get greypunk going again after this is done. There are a lot of good keyset GBs planned for early next year though, so I might defer responsibility to someone else for it.

Would base your decision on which plate material you'd prefer tbh. I wouldn't expect every brass Alice plate to look like as skanky as Puddsy's.

Definitely in for this.

Could also go for some Polycarb wrist rests.

Anyone tried putting any sorbathane between the plate and PCB? Curious what that would do the acoustics.

FYI, the GB for these will probably be in late January because I don't want to deal with it over winter break. I've had a rough year and I could use 5 weeks to just turn my brain off and watch TV/eat ramen.

Same as my last break, I'm easily reached (and prefer) via GH PM, discord/slack will be slower because I don't get those notifications on my phone, and I only check them every few days when I'm not at my main PC.

Quick update, waiting to hear back from one more place, and if that's no good GB will probably be sometime in late January, after Red Riot is done.

If the new place is no good, it's likely that the only option will be clear polycarb, which sucks since I really want to do carbon.

Quick update on the responses:

40 people for polycarb

15 for carbon (so that's probably not happening)

5 put alu in for "other"

and 2 for POM

so looking like polycarb only for now, but i'll still keep an eye out for a carbon manufacturer
