Title: Changing PCB On Model M ?
Post by: Dirty Bint on Fri, 07 May 2010, 16:16:12
Hi,

I wish to change the PCB board for a Model M but am not 100% sure of the correct way to remove the plastic templates from the board.

Do the 2 plastic heads pull off the board, I have had a slight tug at them and they seem tight. I know that the plastic template itself will come out of the plastic heads but am not sure if this is the correct way to remove the PCB ?

I am not sure if I asked my original question in the best way.

On the PCB, I have 2 black connectors, J3 and J4, and each of these has internal contacts. My question is, are these black connectors soldered or fixed to the board or do they come off. I know that I can remove the keyboarb plastic template connector tabs from these black connectors but what I want to know is if the black connectors are meant to be removed as they seem stuck ?

Thx

The black connectors stay put, the plastic ribbon can just be wiggled out gently (and reinstalled the same way)
