From the IC:7. Looking to help the settle the Moon and Mira replacement parts in the other GB so we could have a good start
Given the opening of the GB here, when is this item scheduled to complete?
If we choose kit 2, the bottom curve weight will be the sandblasted brass color, not the alternative aluminum color, right?
I can't decide which kit to get, and I love both indigo and red
Is it just me or is the google form missing?

Im a tad confused bout the red, is the red the red shown on the board because the color sample image almost looks orange?

Is the V2.3 proto indigo?

Camera for the colour card looks potato. So I included the proto picture in my thread for reference.
Any chance of a stainless steel plate in addition to brass? I strongly prefer stainless over brass or aluminum.
I've been a longtime lurker of GH, and signed up just to make this post, as this is a project I've been most excited about.
I'm concerned with the new Yin-Yang design. I love it in concept, but I don't think it is properly executed. The old design conformed to the correct shape/proportions of a standard Yin-Yang, but the new one does not. I also don't think the design concept (making the two parts convex) interferes with adhering to this design.
Here's an image I found of the standard proportions of the Yin-Yang:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/fd9n5H0.jpg)
To make this properly convex, the following transformations from this would need to happen:
1. Increase the size of the left/right circles.
2. If constrained to 2D, these would overlap. Instead, reconnect them in the middle by angling them down/inward, keeping the edges touching the main big circle locked
3. The rest of each white/black area should continue at the same angle as their respective circles
4. The dots should be at the center of their respective circles.
And that's it. If I knew how to use a 3d modeling program, I would make this. Maybe somebody can help.
Right now this is the only thing that's keeping me from buying what would otherwise be an absolute masterpiece.
1. One of the major key concern shown on the older design is making one side darker in shade then the other.
2. While I can anodize a side to a darker shade in black and do a clear anodization on the other, I would have an assembly issue.
3. Artemie actually thought of a good solution of making 2 parts convex, allowing different viewing angles to cast shade on the other half, removing the actual need of a secondary assembly before affixing the logo to the board.
4. While the concept of perfect symmetry is sound, I personally do not think the execution is poorly done.
5. Furthermore, it is already in the GB phase and last minute design changes would be detrimental to the buy as a whole.

I think the angled idea is great, but I would have to disagree on the quality of its execution. Can you at least center the dots to their circles? That's the most glaring fault. Mirroring it to it's correct orientation would be great too. I don't think either of these things would be very risky changes.
I'm confident other members would agree with me on at least centering the dots.
Looks nice - definitely tempting! I was wondering, is the spacing the same to other tkls like the tx84, mira etc - thinking about compatibility with the "Skinny A87" form factor for the hineybush tkl pcb.

It is hard for me to advise you at this stage as PCB size and measurement is not confirmed at the moment. Currently waiting for PCB from a new manu to arrive to perform a fitting test and design changes to ensure all else is okay.
Should I have any info on this, I would get back to you.

Cool - Thanks for the reply! Not a dealbreaker for me more just thinking about a potential second pcb / plate setup for alps with it down the line.
The image you created for alignment didn't seem very precise, as you considered the inside edge of the lower circle as part of the circle (the camera was not directly from above). I went ahead and tried it myself:

As Miki has clarified, Eve will be doing the changes you pointed out.
As the one who put forth the aforementioned logo, it was a proof of concept to see how the light bouncing off different surfaces could be incorporated to the logo to show the "black" and "white" of the Taichi logo.

Just had a thought. What would be really awesome is if the dots were milled to the same angle as the opposite side, so it has the same color/shade as the opposite side in given lighting conditions.
It's probably too late to add this in... oh well.

I might have missed this in the IC, but what is the cable connection?
Wanted to check how brass back weight vs aluminium back weight would impact the keyboard before I place my order in.
Edit: Sorry i mean the brass back weight not the O weights.

From what I gather, this is a custom PCB that is yet to be made. I believe C3-Ears may be working on it but I'm not the definitive on any of this either.
finally in, thank you, and im kind of curious i bought the black/white kit is there any way to add the SS bottom pieces and O's to my order? if not no problem i was just curious i would be interested for the additional weight.
Super excited about this board. First custom, have no soldering stuff, and no idea how to really assemble :D What stress!

I want to get a titanium plate for this keyboard from this GB: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=98567.0
I don’t know anything about plate design though. Is there a plate file I can share with the titanium plate GB runners to get a plate cut?

I can only release the plate files after final prototype fitment. Not sure Eve can do it before their gb cut off.

Ok thank you. When is that scheduled for?
Really interested the in the board but i got some questions about shipping. :(
How much would it cost sending it to europe and is there an option for ddp(Delivered Duty Paid)?
It hurts like hell paying those customs because it's gonna be almost double the price of the board. I wouldnt mind paying more if a ddp option is available. It's tempting, but i dont know how much i am willing to break the bank for this one.. X:
We arent sure on each individual country duties rate, more so for China. I pretty sure in both ways customs would still have paid nonetheless. Also i wouldnt want to under declare in value and compromise insurance since i am not collecting any profits for this as a runner and it wouldnt be prudent for me to bear such risks.

Oh,thought you were in communication with the manufacturer. Are you telling me the customs will be already prepaid or they're gonna have to be paid nevertheless? It's literally my own concern, shipping would probably be around ~50 around EU i think and i dont mind that.

I thought there wasn't a silver option?
Its a shame. It looks good in silver! I went with the dark titanium grey. It was the closest I could imagine to silver, but its also the only colour option that I can't really visualize well, since there hasn't been a prototype of concept render, unlike with the other colours.
Is there a PCB layout picture somewhere?
I would like to know if shipping will be done through DHL express?
I'm in SEA and I'm really concerned with customs fees in my country. I prefer to have it shipped directly to my chosen address and hopefully without additional fees upon delivery.

I could ask Eve to use DHL express, however for insurance purposes, amount will be declared in full.
If it uses a mira/moon plate, would the TX87 PCB work in the TaiChi?
I wrote to you on the email that the invoice came with, could you please cancel order 0063?
Assuming silver isn’t a color option?
Hello,
For me, everything is good, though I have a question regarding the Titanium TaiChi logo. It's an extra logo for 25 USD yes? So I keep the brass one I get from kit 1 and get an extra titanium one. If it is like that, is it still possible to add this to my order?
I might as well give myself the choice to pick which one I want if it's not too late.
Cheers.
Thanks and paid.
Now don't forget to add that logo to my order please :p
Cheers.
Now it is the long waiting game.

How many orders total for taichi goodness?
I just have to say that you're doing a great job with this buy. I think the constant communication gives people peace of mind, as well as the confidence that you're competently handling everything. Even the updates that simply say "no significant update" are something that I've found a lot of buys lack, but is incredibly soothing from a buyers perspective. Especially when it's something us buyers are super hyped about.

Thank you as well for the updates! Best GB ever!!

For anyone who is scared to do soldering, I highly recommend getting mill-max hotswap sockets. You can pop them into your pcb and turn your board into a hot-swappable one.

Hot-swap PCB support requires more time and money.
Adding hot-swap PCBs during production is not recommended.
And I do not want hot swap PCB.
I will do switch soldering for a solid keyboard.
Nice update!
Would you also mind asking Eve how is the progress on the Canoe boards, Percent studios are not responding. I heard from a reliable source Eve is in charge the manufacturing. Thanks!
Praying for bstock or r2 for this magnificent board

While I agree the blue is gorgeous, I ordered red and am not super happy with how it turned out. The sample red was less saturated and less orange. Red Samurai isn't going to look as great as I'd hope on this...
Is it too late to switch with somebody, who happens to like the red?

If you managed to find someone that does, I'm okay to swap it. In my opinion, red was closely matched, it is simply not realistic to 100% match anodised metal against a colour on a pantone sheet of paper.
Edit: a close friend of mine told me the proto red was different versus the colour swap posted for this GB. Will talk to Eve on this.

Are those silver cases meant to be the ones powder coated white? That's one of the better looking silvers I've seen.
Our keyboard wants to know when to start shipment.
Wow... my only regret thus far is that I didn't buy 2. That white looks amazing. Thanks, as usual, for the consistent follow-up with the manufacturer and updates here
[3] Dark Red boards
I have checked with Eve, the dark red ano colour was poured away some time back early in the proto phase and would not be possible to re ano them again to the proto red colour.

I have emailed you to coordinate resolution.
But, just to clarify- Eve told you they could re-anodize back to the prototype color, and you gave them the go-ahead on that. Then, after they realized they couldn't, they re-anodized it anyway to yet another different red without further coordination? That seems unprofessional on their part.

What a shame. This is the first group buy that I've actually made a real contribution to, and now I'm being told I'll be refunded.
Is there a reason you are specifically asking for extra blue? This would be my preference of colors, in order:
1. White
2. Black
3. Blue
4. Gray
Honestly, I'd pay extra to get this re-anodized again. Is that a possibility?
If Eve had communicated that the proto red was impossible to reproduce, then we could have re-anodized to a different color...
Edit: I cannot do white anymore since it is coating not anodizing. Will ask if black is possible.
Edit edit: managed to changed to white and black. I will collect the price difference later from you. Cheers.

That looks soooo stunning, also would anyone be interested in a batch of POM plates for the TaiChi? I'm thinking about grabbing a plate from onefiftynine and would want to check if here first if anyone would be interested in a plate.
I'm interested! That makes three then, also I modified the plate file, so it'll only have Tsangan ANSI support:
Got my board!!
The ano is good. Only slight discoloring and kinks on the inside. The ano'd circle weight is also a darker shade than the rest of the board but that's not too noticeable. Top and bottom case colors are consistent as far as I can tell. PCBs (2) are working and look very clean. Bronze badge also very nicely polished!
Can't wait to build this. There's actually very little clearance for the PCB in the case so I think there'll be little to no sound issues.Show Image(http:// (Attachment Link) )Show Image(http:// (Attachment Link) )

I have had black/gray boards from other manufacturers (LZ, duck) and this looks closer to black than gray, but not all the way to black. I took the pictures under the brightest light I had but in lower light it's pretty much black.
For reference, these are the color samples given:
Ink Black: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/437814154099949570/520235123405226005/-61b90e36294ca2d8.jpg

It matches pretty well to the Ink Black sample and doesn't look anything close to the Titanium Gray sample.

VAIO VPC-Z1 was sold in silver and black. I have a black one (sadly no longer functioning) and it always looked dark grey with a greenish/yellowish tint to me, even more so when it catches the light. Taichi in general gives me serious VAIO Z1 vibes which I'm cool with. The profile photo above was even reminiscent of Sony's barrel hinge design around the time of the Z1.
Did I read the OP wrong or were the switch plates supposed to be anodised?

Switch plate were originally anodized in a different colours, as I did not hit the MOQ of 80 I have decided to make it universally silver for all.
Edit: I have also received a few requests for the plate to be silver for grey and blue before I made that decision.

yes i talked to OP about this. unfortunately i was told that the tolerances would mean that powder coating the silver accent piece on the bottom would make it no longer fit into the case, since the powder coat significantly increases thickness. i was told EVE tried it with a real accent piece, so its not theoretical
Anyone know if the h87a pcb work with this plate?
Where there any extras or B stock extras?
