Title: IBM Model M: 1390120 - 1390131 controller compatibility

seeing a lot of photage online gave me the impression that model m 1390120 has exactly the same controller as the 1390131.
jugging by  what it appears to me from the photage I do think that 1390120 controller even has the LED plastic pin-connector already installed on the controller pcb?

so it appears to me that 1390120 controller can easily be used to run 1390131 board without any effort at all

can anyone confirm this ??!!

I can't confirm that, but I do know you can use a 1391401 controller on most every IBM Model M terminal 101/102-key keyboard.

(Essentially, including the 1390120; which is just a 1390131 without LED's).
Swap, drill a few holes, connect the wires, put on the overlay and done.

It is a bit more expensive to go this route if you decide to do it, but well worth it.
Plus you are saving a keyboard that essentially would be considered useless and thrown out.

AND:
If it were me, I would just try it and see if the LED's work with that controller. You answered your own question.
If it doesn't work, no big deal.
If it does work, you're good.

imgur is blocked where i live right now
