Title: PCB-mount or Plate-mount when paired with Linear-switches vs Tactile-switches
Post by: menuhin on Sat, 05 January 2019, 06:40:46
There are two main ways of mounting switches:
PCB-mount (i.e. without plate)
versus
Plate-mount (either on a tray-mount design with anchored PCB or top-mount design with the plate itself anchored)

However, opinions vary in terms of whether it is nicer to pair
Tactile-switches with PCB-mount style or Plate-mount style,
and the same goes for Linear-switches - on PCB-mount or Plate-mount?

Amidst all the half-plate designs popping up recently, what is your take and your favourite approach to pairing mount style and types of switches? I know... it can primarily be a manner of taste.

Please share your thoughts in the comments, and perhaps also the reasoning behind such pairings.

Nice copy pasta's. At the end of the day it's personal preference like anything else in this hobby. Nothing is good or bad it depends on the end user anyway.

Yes, therefore I am asking for people's own personal preference - never mentioned anything even the word "good" or "bad" in my OP ;-)
Of course there are people who belongs to the "I don't feel any difference, I don't care" category. These people may as well don't care using a mechanical keyboard also.

Yup, I didn't some copy and paste, to see how people are open and willing to response to an original post like this one, on different forums.
Unfortunately I don't know how I can create a polling post here in GH.
