Title: Manufacturers
Post by: nads93uk on Tue, 11 May 2010, 13:27:44
I know it may be just too expensive for most of us (including me) but would anyone know how to get in touch with manufacturers who you simply give your design to, pay for it and they make it? It must be done like that at least sometimes.

DSI will do it, I think.  I inquired about something like that a couple of years ago when I had just joined Geekhack, and they said they would do it.  The only catch is, you have to buy in bulk (I think it was 1000 peices, or so).

Check it. (http://www.costar.com.tw/products01/?p_sid=32)  I'm not sure how many you would have to order.  I think Soulhunter said something about MOQ of 100.

Contact Russia based Singulum.

If I ever win the lottery (a big  one, not one of the $10k ones), I will buy one of those laptops, then give it to some random hobo in Brooklyn, then film the ensuing hobo fight(s) and sell it as a snuff film to double my fortune.

I have no moral compass.

If you haven't filled out your census yet remember to mark KLINGON under  Religion:

You know it's tough during the recession when the bureau is freezing hiring due to too many people.  I was hired initially, but then they called me the Sunday before I started training and said they have too many people.  You would figure living in San Antonio, there would be plenty of work to go around, but I guess not.  That said, I already have gainful employment, and I would rather someone without a job have that position than myself.

Bulk, bulk, bulk. If you want a company to make you a keyboard design, you'll need a large number of them. 100? 1,000? 50,000? Depends really.

Cherry was going to sell me MOQs of 25, but that was for relatively off-the-shelf stuff, not for a completely new design.

design wise, its pretty much a filco clone-ish but more relating back to my 'BIG PROJECT'. How did ducky do it again?
