Title: Model M 42H1292 - SDL mod possible?
Post by: ksd5 on Fri, 14 May 2010, 15:49:32
Is it possible to add an SDL port to a Model M 42H1292?

First of all, is there any advantage to having a detachable cable on your Model M than a fixed cable?

Nope.

The case of the 42H is different to the older Model Ms, there's nowhere you can put in the SDL connector. It is possible with the older attached cable Model Ms (52G', 82G' and related) and the M13, but not with the 42H.

Advantages? Guess the SDL cables are easier to replace they are somehow broken. Otherwise it makes no difference.

Would it be possible if I cut a hole for it into the casing? All I'd need to do then is match the pinouts to a female SDL connector and solder it on.

And that's available here (http://ps-2.kev009.com:8081/ohlandl/keyboard/Keyboard.html#Voltages).
