Title: Inside a NMB RT-102
Post by: arapineau on Sun, 10 February 2019, 09:54:45
I found this keyboard on ebay.

The board was externally dirty but not too much.
I was hopping to find NMB series 725 switches in it, but the Italian vendor (yes the keyboard has an Italian layout) wasn't willing to pull a key out in fear of damaging the board.
So I took a gamble and bought it despite not being cheap. And pulling the caps

I was able to enjoy the grimy look of my overpriced NMB dome with slider board  :(

I am not sure which material the keycaps are made of, in one hand the disolve in acetone, but in the other hand, they seem to have been dye sublimated and I don't think that is possible with ABS so... I don't know.

One thing that was a pain to clean were the membranes

because the three layers are soldered together

which is nice to keep them aligned but not so for cleaning the dust in between.
I am not sure the difference is visible.

I also replaced the 16V 10µF capacitors.

One of the sliders was broken when I got the keyboard.

It's no big deal though.

Maybe one day I'll get my hand on some space invader goodness.

The FCC ID on these NMB boards usually indicates the switches from what I have been able to gather.

I have been able to figure out so far that these codes are likely to have space invader switches:

AQ6-OAKZ15
AQ6-MAPLEZ15
AQ6RT101-LC

I have a AQ6-CYPRESSZ15 that is a rubber dome so just because it is named after a tree doesn't mean it has space invaders. Others that I know are rubber domes of some kind are:

AQ6-MNT4XZ15
AQ6-MEMB-XXXX

Also those with model numbers starting with RT2XXX or RT6XXX.

If anyone else can corroborate these findings it would be good to know so we can put it in the wiki.

AQ6-CYPRESSC15 is a rubber dome too. I think CYPRESSC-15 are bare rubber domes, while CYPRESSZ-15 is a dome with slider.

Looking at the description on the box in

Yes, that is what I meant, that those models are also rubber domes.
