Title: Hello from Germany

Hi,

I am Bernhard, rather new to the (new) world of mechanical keyboards, even though I am old enough to remember them as the normal equipment at the workplace.
I am interested in TKL and 1800 layout, mostly, ISO-only.
So far, I really like MX-black, am less fond of MX-brown and would like to try out (for a longer time) some MX-blue, which I think I might enjoy as well.
As far as aesthetics/keycaps are concerned: The keycap-market for ISO-DE is considerably narrower than for ANSI, which led me to do some dying of Cherry hellgrau PBTs, and I do like the results so far.
Lurking here, and over at DT, I learned a lot and am very thankful for the ressources available on the fora.

Hello Bernhard,

One comment I can make with the key switches : Have a look at Kailh box switch, more specifically.
MX blue is not hard but clicky. It depends how much force you like to apply and if you like linear, tactile or clicky switches. Right now since i've had MX blue i want to try Kailh BOX Brown, they sound really nice from what i've heard on Youtube!

I read that some MX-like switches can ruin your keycaps, because the stems are just ever-so-slightly too big --is Kailh one of them?

I hear they re-tooled their moulds, I do not know exactly when they fixed the problem. The stems were slightly larger and caused keys to get ruined. I know because the bad ones  are on sale at 50% of original price at a NY website i ordered things from. They sell the "new" ones too.
