19/06/21 Update
Hello guys, it's been long since I gave an update to this thread. As some of you may know, I am facing some major changes in my life and don't have quite enough room for running group buys on my on.
So I've been talking with mykeyboard.eu for a while for them being the vendor of upcoming UD projects, and now the UD_40 seems to be ready to proceed! Further details will be announced by a separate thread created by mykeyboard, and I will link it here as soon as it is posted.
+ UD_70's timeline should be decided as soon as things are scheduled with mykeyboard, so please wait for the update on that as well. Thank you everyone for the support, have a good one!
---------------------------------------
Hi, I am Goldworms from Korea.
I'd like to show you the board that I designed and start an IC thread for it.
Let me introduce you to UD_40, a 40% layout keyboard.
GB has already begun and it's accepting forms in Korea.

-Flat Head Screw : 6 x Misumi M2-6L (for joining housings)
-4 x 3M SJ3502 rubber bumps
General informations
1. Colors
-Aluminium parts will be silver in color.
-Polycarbonate parts will be sand-blasted.
2. Options
-UD_40 has two options for top housing (Aluminium or Polycarbonate)
-No price difference between options.
3. Price
-Base kit price will be $235.
4. Date

5. Shipping
-EMS-ships from Korea

I couldn’t check the exact shipping costs as I didn’t calculate the final weight yet. I’ll update it asap.
[Asia ($30) / Australia ($37) / EU, Canada ($38) / USA ($43)]
6. Notes
-Payments will be processed via PayPal.
-Helicoils will be inserted to polycarbonate parts.
-Will be packaged safely with foam sponges and bubble wraps.
-I will put my best effort into QC, but boards with slight scratches or blemishes might exist and won't be subjects for replacements or refunds. Same goes to anodizing qualities, I will QC them myself.
Thank you.

Can Planck pcb fit this board?
-
Looks nice, but too mucho for my wallet. I would especially have a hard time to stomach that shipping is 25% of base cost...

The Planck pcb is not compatible.
The reason is that the standard PCB (19.05mm) and Planck pcb (19mm) have different switch distances.

It is right that the shipping fee is expensive. I have not yet verified the correct shipping cost at the post office.
UD_40 is light in weight and small in packaging volume, Much will change in my proposed shipping cost.

one of the better 40% designs i've seen actually
this is nice
-
Nice. Loving the polycarb one.
-
Oh, nice. I remember seeing this on kbdlab and hoping that it might be opened to the West. Would buy for sure.
-
Would mechmini fit in this case?

Thank you. ;)

Would mechmini fit in this case?
mechmini pcb I can not check the information, but it seems to be compatible with the bolt hole location of the published PCB picture. But I can not say that it is an exact match.
-
Would mechmini fit in this case?
Well PCB-wise, if you have a spare or want to desolder:- Mechmini 2 - yes. It's identical to the NIU mini PCB this is designed for.
- Mechmini RGB - possibly not. This is the same thing but with USB-C, which it looks like the port on this case is too narrow for.
- OG Mechmini - no, obviously.

I am going to visit the post office for accurate weighing tomorrow, and the case weighs 455grams with all polycarbonate.
On Friday you will be able to update the shipping cost.

Probably in for polycarb version. This is gorgeous, and I don't particularly like 40% boards
-
I really like this board. If only there were an all black case with black plate option. With the current silver case I can get it cerakoted, but that would add onto the already high cost. Very nice design! I'll have to think about it.
-
I updated the shipping cost. ;)

Here's to hoping my bank account is in the green come April!
Great looking kit.

It’s so cute and delicate.

I love the case but not having a type-c connector hurts a bit.
-
Will there be other color options available during group buy?

thank you ;)

I love the case but not having a type-c connector hurts a bit.
It is already manufactured PCB, usb-c connector can not be applied. I'm sorry.

Of course, I will prepare various colors.

What is the measurements of the port hole? If it is wide enough, it might be able to fit the new type-C mechmini pcb

The connector port size is wide enough.

I will definitely be keeping my eye on this one. And hearing that there will be more color options come GB time is very exciting as well. Having USB-C would also be cool but if not then it isn't a deal breaker for me.

What is the measurement for the actual hole? Type C is a few mm wider than b-mini and judging by the image, the b-mini fits very snugly

What do you mean? The numbers on the image are the measurements for the hole. The width of the mini-b connector you've put in red should be 6.8mm (vs 8.25mm for type c).
There would only be potential issues if the port is too recessed into the hole - an 11mm gap is pretty tight for the overmoulding around the connectors on type c cables. I just measured the two I had on my desk and it's 50:50 on whether they would fit.

Ah. my bad. I mistook the diagram for something like this where the port hole was recessed into another hole

I am sorry that the answer is late.
There is enough free space where the usb connector is attached.

Are there more pictures of this? Not many hi Pro ortholinear cases out there :/

Dreaming about purchasing this UD_40, putting GMK 9009 keycaps on it, adding the GMK Korean Beige Add-On Kit, then having a perfect ode to Koreans & their amazing culture.

To do USB-C, does the UD_40 pcb need to come with it already installed? From what I understand, USB-C is not a straightforward swap.

I am too late for this one, right? Just wanna make sure, since i've never seen an actual gb thread.

Based on the first post in this thread, I was assuming a Korean group buy would happen first, then the International group buy would open up later, which would let US people purchase as well. But I might have it wrong.

Korean GB took place before, the international group buy is now ready to happen as updated. Stay tuned!

cool design!

Count me in. I def want one when it goes live

I really wish a PCB supporting 2x2u space was supported.
Will DXF files be available in case I want to cut my own plate for 2x2u space?

Hi! So I came up upon this thread a while after this original post was made, and I was wondering if this kit was still being made? If so where?
I also wanted to ask if you would be selling any of the products separately ?
Thank you for consideration of my question
PS. I found this post through insta and what drew me in was the Apple Pencil in the space. Can that little space charge the pencil too?
-
I will have to get 2 pcbs, one for ortho and one for staggered. Im completely in anyway, Hope we get more updates soon.
-
Looks like this shipping now!? Better late than never...
-
Yo, what? 4 year group buy? I didnt' even know I was watching this thread
-
need more 40s
-
looks very cool, GLWIC!
-
Anyone know if the layout.json for Via is available for the staggered layout PCB? MyKB is non-responsive.

I didn't even know there was a staggered version available. Does the PCB say DZ40 or is there a model name/number on it?
I was going to point you to the Mykeyboard discord, but I see you've found it because i see you in there.
