I own a Corsair K70. I used to have the clicky, but I found the Cherry Red for cheaper and swapped. It was a bad idea in the long run but I put up with it. Now I need to move that keyboard to the side and replace it. Nothing by it, I'm just shuffling some components around and the Corsair is moving desks. That leaves me without a keyboard! NOOOOooooo!
Then I discovered the term "Mechanical Keyboard" and started researching. I found that it's my preferred type of keyboard after everything I've typed on, and I've used quite a few keyboards. I hate the bump, I hate the hard press of a generic keyboard. I love my smooth Reds with no weight to them, I just aim my finger and, click, the letter appears. So now that I've researched some, I've found my way here!
I am a redditor and have viewed all the pretties, but now I need a pretty. I don't know how it will end up. I don't know how I'm going to build it!? I just know I'm going to sink hundreds of dollars into making something that I will love forever. Something that I want, not just some boxed product designed to make the population happy. I need my keys to be FREE! ... or something like that.
Anyway, I'm a Nor-Cal idiot who wants to make a keyboard. BUT I have no clue where to go as there are just so many options. To start myself I found a cheap kit with a case, frame, and PCB. 60. I figured it was a popular one, I could put some blues in it and some pretty caps and try it out for a beginner. However I've seen to many builds to say "Hey, that's awesome." and just keep it at that. I know this won't satisfy me. I know this rabbit hole will go deeper and suck me down it but I'm looking forward to it honestly.
So! Hello everyone. I need your help. Please, help this noob with a few things. Share your ideas with me? Linkys for anything you think is fun that you want me to see? And maybe, just say hi? XD
