Post by: Maxyol on Mon, 04 March 2019, 21:27:07
My brother broke the fn key on my ducky mini shine (Japanese layout) what do I do

Considering selling it because don’t really want to spend more money on it

How did you check it? Did you check continuity with a multimeter?
Sometimes it is not the switch but the soldering joint to the PCB that has broken — and that is often fixed by reflowing the joint by heating it with a soldering iron, and perhaps adding a little extra solder if needed.

And BTW, do also check that there isn't a DIP switch (or key-combo equivalent) that your brother could have fiddled with, which could have disabled that which you would usually use the Fn key for.

No I just checked the switch wasn’t broken as he smashed really hard. But thanks I will try to re solder it

Try to connecting the two pads with a piece of tin and if it registers the key it means the switch is defect.
