JER MINI screws and weight issues solutions
Problem 1: The JER mini weight has M3.5x6mm holes with thread inserts of M2.5x5mm holes. Removing the weight screws may cause the thread inserts to fall off in sucha a case it could be very hard to reinstall the weight.
Solution: Remove the thread Inserts. Purchase the M3.5x5mm phillips screws and lock the weight with a screwdriver. If you have not take the weight out of the keyboard, please avoid doing so. If you already did it, buy some M3.5x5mm screws in case you have any issue with the weight mounting.
Problem 2: The weight material is sandblasted on the surface of the brass, and the process property makes it easy to stick fingerprints and is not resistant to dirt.
Solution: Please avoid contact with oil. If any surface problem, please wash it with detergent that has good grease resistance, such as washing powder or laundry detergent. Then air-dry or blow-dry the weight after washing. Please do not wipe it after washing.
The author and EVE Studio apologize for all the imperfections and defects that happens. We will try to solve all the problems and let all users get a satisfield product. If you still have any other problem, please contact the author at 303669158@qq.com for help. In the worst case you still have not idea what to do please get contact with the author and you may send the keyboard to EVE Studio so that we could solve the problem by modification and redoing. Shipping cost is covered by the author and EVE Studio.

Probably a dumb question: can this be built without the plate to have a typing experience similar to the Jer A06?
Plate is the connection part between PCB and bottom case, without it the PCB becomes free moving due to lack of mounting mechanism :(

When it's written like that it's typically the length of the screw in millimeters (though in this case, that does seem a little long). Do you have calipers? You can just measure the length of the old screw and get screws to match.

Whatever you do, I highly discourage using low duro sorbothane. It's very sticky and can act like a glue between your plate and PCB.

its a very blue grey color. what ended up coming is very teal inspired. Im not unhappy with the color; im unhappy the color was so far off expectations. even in this additional photo the color looks muted

i am disappointed the "deadline" was removed and then we were not given a full sample to finalize picks like we were told.

If you're getting a failed request, it's most likely one of the diodes or capacitors got knocked off. So check the back of your PCB. I had the same error when I got a PCB from KBDfans and they had to ship me a replacement capacitor

I had something similar with my KBD67 and it looked like my USB port was messed up (pins looked bent and pushed in) so I replaced them with a new USB port and it works. The USB port on this PCB looks fine to me. I check the capacitor and diodes and they all look intact. The only thing I questioned was these next to the USB port. Is there something that suppose to be there? It’s on top of the PBC so I thought it’s suppose to be missing.

I ran into the same issue with the screw holes.
I tried some longer M2 screws and still didn't find any thread to grab onto in 4 of them.
I suspect issues with tapping those holes.
Other than that it's a great looking keyboard.
(I used the sale + vinegar trick to clean the finger prints off the weight)

Yeah, those scuffs are pretty obvious.
So that's 2 of the 6 yellow keyboards (counting the order list) which ended up with major defects :(
I hope there is some sort of remedy available.

Can anyone share the hex file with me? I'm getting errors whenever I plug in my PCB and tried to contact Frosty about it. His last message was to try to get it into bootloader mode which I was able to do, but he never gave me a file to flash. The lase communication I had with him was back on Sunday so I'm still waiting on him for further instructions. I thought maybe if I can find someone with a hex file I can try flashing it back to life.
Here's the latest firmware and a copy of the keymap for just in case.

At least like 5-6 of my threads are completely unusable. Some people just got lucky but that is definitely not a solution for everyone.

Just look for M2 x 6mm screws... You should be able to get them at your local hardware store.Got longer screws and managed to get 7 of 8 screws to catch. With the provided screws I only managed to get 2 or 3 to screw in.

It's just a diode so it's an easy fix. The part is a couple of cents at most.
You could replace it with another surface mount diode or get creative with a through hole one.

I epoxied my weight in. It's not going anywhere plus no more concerns of shorting the pcb out on the weight screws.
I had to do more work to this board aside from having to epoxy in the weight. I had to put new helicoils in the indicator light trim piece, plus i had to rethread every single plate screw with 2.5m hex bolts. Now my JER Mini is as solid as a rock. The tolerances on the machine work are fantastic and the finish is nice aside from one minor scratch but the quality of the threads and the use of helicoils is unacceptable. It could always be worse though. I gotta say, while the issues with this board are unacceptable, I was able to work around them and that work has made me like the board even more. I'll definitely purchase another plate and PCB if the JER Mini runs again.

Teflon tape will work if you are lucky, or a longer bolt. I opted to use a larger bolt of a much harder metal. Carbon steel bolts cut through aluminum with ease.
