Yes, but only a couple of them.  The 3 shown above aren't on there yet.

True, it would be nice if Massdrop had a sliding gallery at the top rather than just one image so you could cycle through them all.

First community-designed set and first SA set for me.  Should be fun once they get here some time next Spring or so.

Yup, I think that would be perfect.  They usually have a sliding gallery right before the "specs" for keysets with different colors and/or printing, so it shouldn't be too hard to implement something like that for all of camper's renders.

I feel that quite a few people end up jumping into GBs/drops once they have a "real" picture of what their keyboard will end up looking like.  I ended up adding an ergodox kit to my Carbon SA purchase solely because I saw the renders...I wasn't even intending to even build an ergodox at that point.

Based on the traction so far, I feel like there may actually be a pretty decent shot of hitting the 2nd or 3rd drop points on at least some of the sets. Which I feel is pretty infrequent.

Trying to decide if I want a second novelty set so that I can have symmetrical CTRL keys...

Massdrop said they can't raise prices after a drop has started, I should maybe try to woo the deskthority guys, might help with your ISO kit?

Also, Massdrop confirmed R4 shifts for Troubled Minds. :)

Possibly the Angel's face, as shown in the render, except have that for both CTRL keys instead of just one.

Oh I see, I intentionally limited heads/faces to only one key, as I imagine there's only one Joker, or Eva 01, or Sachiel, even in keyboards, if that makes sense.

The updates to the tracking stats do take a day and sometimes two for the update to occur.  Rest assure that the update will come.  Keep in mind there is movement up and down (people changing their order, people adding to their order, people taking things out of their order) which they take into consideration in making the change to the price points.  The price will definitely adjust though.  It just may take a few more orders in to guarantee the new price point holds.  Last anyone wants to see is the price go back up because 5 people made changes to their order affecting 95 other orders because of an order update.

We'll all benefit in the end.  AND the more that jump in now, the more secure the lower price is for all of us.

Yes, the base and novelties are currently unlocked, so we have the next drop points to look forward to. I'm planning to do more renders for other layouts so people will know what they'll look like instead of wondering if it will look good.  ;)

I already started a thread in Deskthority, so that's done. I checked past group buys and both Danger Zone and Carbon didn't reach 50 orders for ISO, Carbon had 34 and Danger Zone had 46 if I'm not mistaken.

Updating a bit early sounds about right.  I haven't specifically kept track of that on previous drops so wasn't positive what the situation was there.  Glad they're updating.  I won't complain at earlier updates.

Looks like we're not too tremendously far off on the numpad as of this morning also.  Great for those of us dwindling full-size keyboard users.

Sorry for sounding ignorant ('cuz I am as I just got into mech keyboards) but I have two DAS Keyboards that I want to customize.  Would you recommend SA keycaps for those boards or should I rather go with another keydesign option.

My 8 year old has been bugging me after he saw the pics and wants to one of those sets for gameplaying.

Thanks,

It depends on the model, das keyboards have standard and non-standard bottom rows, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think if I ever went smaller than a full size keyboard, I'd end up buying a numpad anyway.

I'm bothered by the non-standard kit, and want to change it. Personally I think it looks weird to have two faces or heads of a character, but I'm not sure it's a good idea to significantly change the design when the drop is already active. Here's two options I came up with, the first is the one I prefer. It's not only cheaper than the other option, I feel it's aesthetically more pleasing since you can have symmetry.

The second one might be what some (or most) people want, 4 unique novelties. It also means a more expensive kit. Massdrop can't raise the prices since the drop is already active, so I might have to put out money for the two extra molds so the price stays virtually the same as now. I'm not even sure if that's how it works.

So, leave it alone, or change it to one or the other?

Best advice I would give is that you ADD a key to the kit to balance it out.  To counter the price variance, change the price on the MOQ next level up.  Removing keys could likely cause a lot of commotion among participants (likely even from non participants just because they have less at stake with regards to opinion).  This would be the most fair and make everyone appreciate the extra work put into the updates.  The issue with the add by people who wish to "discuss it" is that they are "paying for extra keys they don't want".  We've seen keys get added to kits during an active group buy in the past, so it does happen.

You're saying the second option is better? You do have a point, removing a key is worse since people already ordered what they saw in the existing kit. Thanks for the input.

I'm leaving that option up to you :-)  I think the set is going strong no matter which way you take it.  I just didn't want you to not make it the way you want the set to look exactly.  We've all been here to support the IC since way back when, and you have the most knowledge on what will and will not be how this set needs to be.  I say if it doesn't look like the way it is supposed to look, we will support your decision to make it look right.  In the end this is about a key cap set that might never come back and one that will exclusively have your signature on it.

You might want to ask Massdrop for their input on this one as well.  I've seen a few drops where they straight up used the wrong photo for the product and changed it mid drop.  The major difference, like you said, is that a change to this set would affect the price...

Seems appropriate.

I really want to purchase the non-standard kit novelties, is there either a list of non-standard keyboards you can let us know these were designed for or a list of the size of the keys that are in the kit?  I know the spacebar is 7u so excluding the 7U spacebar I'm trying to figure out whether the keys in this pack will fit a Corsair Kxx or a Logitech G7xx keyboard.  Thanks!

It should have the bottom row mods Corsair and Logitech boards need, the 1.5u and 1u modifiers. It also has Tsangan keys and I included some 1800 keys by request.

edit: added more detail

It has stepped Tsangan keys, 1.75u shift, 1.5u Ctrl and Alt keys, 1u Meta and Super which I believe fit Tsangan and Corsair/Logitech boards. The 1.75 Ctrl key and and 1.25 Caps Lock bottom row key is for the "anti caps lock kit".

About the non-standard novelties, those are the keys I'm actually planning to modify. Here are two options I'm thinking about:

The preference right now is with the second option, since it doesn't need more than two molds for the novelties. I'm currently thinking of  merging the two, with HaHa keys and orange badges, and one of each Joker and Eva faces, but Massdrop can't raise the prices after a drop starts, so I will probably have to shell out money for that one. A note about the HaHa keys, I can't fit the new design so I used the old design for the 1u key.

is there a limit to how many can join the drop?

Not that I know of, as orders go up and we reach drop points, I believe Massdrop adds new price drops.

Is this the reason the drop point is so high for the layout adapter kit compared to others?

And VAT green, is it a vibrant or muted color?  Some renders look brighter than others.

Drop point is decided by Massdrop, probably a high drop point for better pricing.

I think with Danger Zone they last updated the page 4 days before the drop ended. I really don't understand why they don't automate it.

It's a shame that the shipping and the child-extra packs add so much cost to the overall price for us europeans...  :(

Edit: those mock ups look stuning btw, great job on those.  ;)

I would hope they're at least working on the coding of automatic updates behind the scenes.  It would be much nicer than waiting for a MD staff member to update it.

You'd think/hope so, though I guess that all depends on what kind of development staff they have on board. Seems they've been doing a fair bit of front end overhaul recently--hard to say if the person(s) responsible for that are capable of taking on behind the scenes tasks as well.

But yeah, they could really use a revamp for the way that keycap drops are run. Automated updates, showing child set progress on the main page...

I'm having some trouble understanding this, can someone shed some light.

If i have this selected

Order Details
1
Base Kit: No (-$78.99)
Child Kits: EVA01/Joker Kit (+$35.99)
EDIT
1
Base Kit: Yes
Child Kits: None

the total price says 108$

if i have this
1
Base Kit: Yes
Child Kits: EVA01/Joker Kit (+$35.99)
the total price is 111$ ?

Both without shipping.

Its cause they haven't updated the revised price for the base price reduction- the base set is now less than 78.99 so you're "making" money by ordering how you have it. I'm sure they'll realize by the time the set goes through.

At this point I'd be doubtful if we didn't reach the third drop point on at least the main set.

Looks like no more movement on the non-standard kit :(

Ah yes, Massdrop hasn't confirmed it but the final version will most likely be the 2 HaHa keys and 2 orange badges. Adding a couple more novelty designs will drive the price up significantly, and it's illegal for them to raise the price after a customer has bought in. I will ask them options for the kits that won't hit MOQ, I've been told that they might try to reach out to individuals to ask if they are willing to pay a higher price, for the ISO kit specifically. I don't see why it can't work for the other kits. We still have more than a week left, and hopefully more people will join in the following days. :)

At this point I'd be doubtful if we didn't reach the third drop point on at least the main set.

Looks like no more movement on the non-standard kit :(

Any updates re: the updated version of that?

Ah yes, Massdrop hasn't confirmed it but the final version will most likely be the 2 HaHa keys and 2 orange badges. Adding a couple more novelty designs will drive the price up significantly, and it's illegal for them to raise the price after a customer has bought in. I will ask them options for the kits that won't hit MOQ, I've been told that they might try to reach out to individuals to ask if they are willing to pay a higher price, for the ISO kit specifically. Cool cool. Appreciate the update (and everything else you've done!)

I'm only hot on the non-standard kit for that darn 1.75 shift. I'm planning on buying a 65% at some point, and would love to have the option to pop this set on.

There's going to be no change in the non-standard kit after all, we're at the halfway mark with a week left. I also made mockups to show how they will look like and realized the changes would have made duplicate and redundant keys...

This image alone had blown my wad of cash for these keys, quite easily.

Can't wait to fill out a few keyboards with these, the youngsters here are pushing me daily on the progress of this GB so the main reason I'm in this is due to the ankle biters.

Before the sale ends are you able to confirm  if they can have the ISO kits made?  Im worried that at the moment if I don't cancel my order, I will end up with a keyset that does not fit on my keyboards :(  Thanks :)

Any reason why this mockup doesnt include the non-standard layout kit? Other than that, it's pretty much on point. Cant wait to put this on the Compact SQ.

Haha, the stylized J should be deep dish and the arrow keys and home cluster should be green in the base kit, that means the color mod kit is wrong too.. :)

Base kit is green home cluster, that's what's showing on my browser in Massdrop's page. If you mean the 3D mockups, that's just to show the possibilities when using the kits provided.

Congrats on getting it through to Massdrop dude :) I always liked the colourway. Hope it is a successful drop!

Thanks! It has already exceeded my expectations, so I'm very happy. :)

Did they just rollback the prices to the ones that were posted on the weekend?

Looks like they've adjusted it again and we're back to updated information.  The Eva/Joker kit is closing in on drop point 3 right now.

Yes the correct infromation is uploaded now, reaching the third drop point will be the icing on the cake :D

At this point I'd be doubtful if we didn't reach the third drop point on at least the main set.

Looks like no more movement on the non-standard kit :(

Any updates re: the updated version of that?

Movement looks to have mellowed out lately.  We've hit numbers on a good number of sets though I'm not sure if they ever updated yesterday.  It doesn't actually look like it.  Still at 162 base, 57 num, 123 novelty kits.  Wasn't that yesterday's info?

The first day they updated it earlier than promised, anyway I just learned Yanbo, Henry, et al. can't really update the community page themselves. They need to wait for an authorized person to do the changes.

I'll check, we already have spacebars in the non-standard and alt color mod child deals. I'm not sure if we can change those this far in the drop. Is it for 6u, 6.25u, and 7u sizes with multiple colors?

With the total purchased number, it does look like a fair number of kits have been picked up.  I suspect that's very rather good news for the base + novelty kits.  I'd love to see the numbers, though.  It's been a while since they last updated.

As to enough staff or forgetfulness?  I'm thinking.... yes.

Glad to see the base and novelty kits moving.  Numpad is only 4 off from hitting the 2nd price point so hopefully that + base move up to save us a bit more cash.

I'm surprised about the Ergodox kits, though.  Given the popularity of that board I would have thought that would sell better.  Perhaps the dox users already have sufficient caps in those locations.

I'm actually quite surprised at the Ergodox numbers myself...I was the one who requested it to be included, thinking that it would be something a lot of folks would want.  It's quite hard to get a full set since SP is the only producer and if you try to order blank sets through PMK it ends up costing an asston of money.  I'm wondering if a lot of ergodox users got their fix with Carbon, Retro, and 1976 or perhaps are good with the DSA set that came with the Infinity.

Hopefully it will, Yanbo is monitoring every child deal closely and might have a plan b.

I think that Yanbo needs to act today if there is a plan. I suspect when business hours close tonight in the US people will start to cancel their orders to avoid getting only part of what they need.

I think people are doing it the other way round, waiting for the drop points to be reached before ordering a child deal.

Yep, everyone's waiting for the absolute 'rock-bottom' pricing a few minutes before the deadline ends.

Unbelievable but true, they all still think MD operates exactly like the older PMK site did, when you know the lowest price is set 2 minutes before the Group Buy ends.

Trouble is quite a few will miss out when everyone hammers their server to take their orders before the end.  You can not change this type of mindset no matter how many times you tell them, some people are slow learners so let them find out the hard way when it comes to these type of Group Buys.

I think I've done my part to to make this group buy a success, so now it all goes down to the community :)

So, if I order a child deal that doesn't meet the minimum by the end of the drop, I won't get that child deal??

Traditionally, that's been the case, though I think at the very least they'll reach out to you before charging. That said, I think thesis has been saying that Massdrop is seeing what they can do for sets that don't meet MOQ.

I would really like a more official word on that. Like a few others, I'm waiting on the non-standard kit.

I don't think they can take action while the drop is active, they need the final numbers and then ask SP for the final pricing, and then maybe ask people if they're willing to pay a higher price.

They have assured me that they will not leave anyone hanging with half an order unfulfilled , ie. charging someone for a base kit while the Planck half failed.

This is not the official statement, just going by conversation I had regarding steps we can take. I also believe they buy extras, so a goal 5 orders short probably mean a child deal unlocked. Again not official, just going by our discussions.

So I assume we're out of luck on extra spacebars? SP doesn't have purple or the same green SA spacebars on there site either. I assume it would be too late to add that now, I know I saw it mentioned earlier in thread.

Yes I believe it's too late now, and nobody brought it up during the IC stage, or even until mid-drop I think.

Yea, oh well just have to deal with a shiny spacebar or use a different profile one. Hopefully SP will have more options on their site by the time they start getting shiny.

The only options I can think of is the alternate color mod pack.. and I think romevi said you can use the purple color from 7bit's round 5a. Sorry, it's something that I could have easily added but one I was not aware of.

The purple is the same and they're both SA, so they should work. The only issue may be shipping costs, and you'll have to wait a year.
Or two.

The wait might be a good feature though. "Hey is my spacebar getting too worn out? Maybe I should look to replace it... hey whats this package? What did I order?"

It's hard to say as Massdrop are not very good at updating the page :(

The unlock point is 100 and as of Mondays update it's at 47.  But looking at the main page people are leaving the groupbuy so only Massdrop know the current accurate numbers.

Yanbo has made an official statement, nobody will be charged for half the kits they need if the other half doesn't reach MOQ, they will be reaching out to you AFTER the drop to give you options.

We reached the 3rd drop drop point and I was told the price won't go up again even if we slide down below the 200 mark.

I've laid out the situation and your options as best as I can.

It's all blanks. How can that be more expensive then doubleshot kits with novelties and such?

Yeah... it just feels wrong to spend so much on a set of blanks. It just doesn't feel like a discount over buying the individual blanks (although the colors aren't available)... still feels like ergodox users are being taken for a ride.

I asked how to do the ErgoDox kit, and the concensus was blanks, this being a sculpted set and people using different key layouts. I only have a Ducky TKL and very new to mech keyboards, so I rely a lot on others when doing the non-standard layouts.

In any case, I expect Massdrop staff to contact you if it doesn't reach MOQ, they have committed to produce all the kits and try to work it out.

One of the things I'm noticing is the requests on MD for the Commit at X Price option.  That they didn't put in multiple price points at the start may have meant such wasn't an option.  Honestly, they need to work on that as that commit system helps those that are on the fence and just waiting for the price to drop.

I'm just guessing here, but the mechanical kb team probably doesn't have much say in how the whole system for the site works, and maybe they have a hard time convincing their programmers to change it for them, especially since the other communities don't need multiple child deals.

This is also probably why community page updates are too slow, Yanbo has said they are not allowed to change it themselves.

Oh, I agree that keycaps are in a unique situation that MassDrop really wasn't prepared for originally.  It also seems that the dev team is possibly small, probably busy, and likely both of those.  I'm sure the keyboard community workers would love to have a more automated system in place to get things like current kit counts for us to see without them having to do the work.

However, the community leaders could be putting multiple price points into the drop.  That should allow the Commit at X Price option to show up, at least as far as I'm aware.  With only one price point on the drop manually updated, there's no ability to commit at a lower price.

Honestly, I hadn't even thought of that aspect when thinking about the multiple price points but I've seen it brought up by at least a few people in the MD discussion and I can see their point even I feel the easiest thing to do is simply commit then withdraw later if items don't drop to the price you want.

If MD can square these kinds of things away, it could certainly help future drops.  For this drop, I'm all good.

Here's hoping for an updated system for the next drops. On a related note, the alt color mod child deal has tipped and should be showing $8.99 for the price, so this manual update is a real problem.

I hope I read this correctly since it was sent through Skype without formatting:

Base Kit - 329
Novelties - 235
Non-Standard Adapter Kit - 69
Dvorak/Colemak - 11
Alternate Color Mod - 101
Planck/Atomic - 37
ErgoDox - 21
Numpad - 135
ISO - 13
International Kit - 6

Apparently the next drop point for the base is 500.

I still see a little price disparity between MD and SP. I guess the internal overhead takes its toll @MD, for example sets on SPs site are usually much cheaper post drop (if you can get them).

I guess you need to weigh up the pros/cons, SP had not much reach, MD has quite a bit with an added (I believe) cost.

There were some uncertainties in PMK's licensing while this set was in IC, before they changed it there was a clause that said they can change the configuration anyway they please, and that they can choose when and how to run the group buy. It was basically surrendering the rights of the design to PMK, I think they changed it after the negative feedback. I don't think a new set has been launched since the site revamp. I submitted a design to learn the new process, but there's been no feedback from PMK after two weeks.

To be honest I enjoy the MD process, as long as they can actually deliver on the promises of all of these new sets :)

No feedback for two weeks? Is that a good or bad sign?

So, I dont think non-standard reached moq, right? Is it close?

I'm not sure, that's for another keyset design by the way, and not Troubled Minds.

Non-standard is  closing in, but you have to realize it doesn't need to reach 100 to be made, Massdrop has committed to producing most (if not all) kits, but in the end it all depends on how much a buyer is willing to pay since lower quantities mean higher prices.

Yes, it's not going to affect production schedule and it might help some other kits hit MOQ, might also hit some drop points for the other kits. I would've ended it the first time, but they know better so I let them decide.

It's good to see that someone's submitted yet sad to see they still haven't put it up for IC vote.  It's rather hard to make use of their system when they're not helping the system along.

I actually don't expect them to put it up for vote immediately, I expect suggestions and corrections first, but like I said I haven't received any feedback from them.

It might just be a matter of them being swamped with existing cap orders so they haven't had the time to go through submissions.  If that's the case, hopefully they can manage to put aside some time and get the ball rolling with PMK.

That wait time isn't that bad honestly, might get pushed back as with GBs but let's hope not.

Edit: Just saw that the payment just went through on paypal. I thought they were reaching out to people who had kits that didn't meet MOQ to see if they were wanting to pay extra to get them made or cancel?
The only kit I was in that didn't make it was the non-standard though so they may have just decided to buy the other kits as it was close?

Sounds like MD will have some extras up for sale at some point in the future like they did recently with previously run kit extras.

I don't think it's the right time yet, and I'd like to develop the chosen set further before putting up an IC thread. I think we got plenty of votes and feedback anyway, it will help a lot. :)

Of those mockups I like Unit 03's the most hands down, as is apparently the popular vote as well.

Unit 02 I'm not a fan of the amount of yellow/gold, could go more towards the rebuild version from the 2.0 with more black/white?  /shrug

Excited for the next set!

I'm thinking the colored mods will be separate from the base kit and included in an alternate color mod or their respecctive novelty kit. Is that a good idea?

Yea that could work, seperate color mod kits or just one bigger kit with both? Big kit makes the price higher but makes reaching moq more assured.

Yeah, if I nclude the color mods with the novelties I'll probably have to split Eva from Flash/Iron Man if the price is too high. Nothing's final as always :)

I am considering letting PMK make this available if they want. Otherwise, waiting for another run will probably take more than a year, there's just too many sets in the works, and most of them are SA.

Just check classifieds or /r/mechmarket or other online shops, I'm sure it will pop up once the sets have shipped.

would be cool :D cant wait for my set to come in but hope i can pick up a extra number pad kit and i think there was one else i wanted to snag :D

Dude. I saw this just yesterday and thought to myself "this guy needs this set". Just check reddit.com/r/mechmarket and you should be able to find a set. Good luck.

Yeah, it's not a homing key at all. Maybe they thought "deep dish" like the regular caps, since they're curved anyway?

USPS.... we put in a mail hold for Th/Fr while out of town.  USPS shipping info for the set shows a delivery was attempted and notice left yet also shows that the mail hold is in place.  No notice when we got home so I'm wondering if that info is even accurate.  Hopefully it's still sitting at the local post office waiting for us to pick up.

Its not deep dish, but I used it as an extra novelty key in which case I would have loved it to be the same profile as the ESC key novelties.  Maybe when you run your next GB, we could have four novelties for those top rows, if nothing else they could replace ESC, Pause, Scrl, and PrtScr.  I just used it for the new DSX board since that keyboard has 4 extra keys on top for volume control.  It still looks perfect though (scratch that, looks AMAZING) so only a suggestion, certainly not a complaint  :D

As they say in culinary, my compliments to the chef.

Looks like my set got delivered today.  First SA set.  I'm still getting used to typing on SA and hitting extra keys I wouldn't have hit before.  The sound is also a bit different.  Louder but a lower pitch than the ABS and PBT OEM style keys I've used before.  Not sure how much I like the louder sound on my MX reds to be honest.

Only filled my 104 board to the 60% mark with the SA keys for now.  Still debating if I like the profile or not to be honest.

At least I know I've got some good company.  I might have to jump in with some typing site time to test my speed out and see how I do.  Right now I seem to have a thing for either missing the last letter of a word or hitting the Y a bit much.  It's getting better but I'll have to see how it goes.  I'm in training for several days so I'll miss out on my work from home day.  Pity as that would have been a nice round of typing on the caps.

Also somewhat wishing the F/J scoops were how every cap was.  Not sure that would help things at all, really, but the deep dish caps feel pretty good.

Normally I prefer keysets with DSA profile, I want to have one set of it too.

This is an idea for now, and not the definite profile for round 2. Main reason is to keep round 1 sets unique, either by doing GMK for round 2 or staying with SA but changing the kits, especially the novelties.

I'd prefer the second option. I love Troubled Minds SA, but I started this hobby one months too late to get one and the aftermarket prices are too steep for me(especially because I need that 1.75u right shift).

Both options are working for me. Love the color theme and please bring back the two heads if go with GMK.(http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161107/4aa41651630ca700516d9ac42e3f89b1.jpg)

Planned new backspace novelty:

Rough drawing, but this should've been the knife used anyway.

if we are going to do an SA rerun, then I want DOTT purple tentacle novelties

I actually agree. I think the set looks WAY better as GMK and I generally dislike GMK's aesthetics as opposed to SA/DSA for the most part. Not here though, GMK's the GOAT.

it looks amazing as GMK!!! That deep purple looks gorgeous. Would love a strong red or white novelty set to accent the board! Excited for this one regardless of it being SA or GMK!

Why not run "unit 2" or "unit 5" in SA?

Because not enough people care. Oh, and SA is so saturated now I'm guessing there's enough design for a year or two. Probably more.

So in other words I'll have to buy ANOTHER GMK set? I hope R3 of this will be SA again, in 2020  :(

Maybe after the SA bubble has burst? :P

This should go nicely alongside another flashy set such as Skeletor.

I'd like both SA or GMK or even DSA for that matter, but I would like to see SA again for R2 with new novelties. Love this set. In on R2 regardless.

I'll do a poll when I get around to doing some mock-ups, maybe next year. Thanks!
