Bottlehead Crack v1.1 Build Progress
« on: Sun, 18 September 2016, 09:27:30 »
Thanks to my successful keyboard builds and modifications, I now have the confidence to go ahead with this project. Last night, I was able to get over half of it done and would love to hear some feedback from those of you with soldering experience and/or Bottlehead DIY kits. Anyways, here she is.

I am dying to hear some feedback and/or tips.

Nice job man! I just built my own a few months ago! Did you paint your transformer housing bell end?

I have lusted for a Bottlehead preamp for years. Maybe someday ....
"At Fox News, on talk radio, and on the web, American conservatives have built a communications system that effectively consolidates in-group identity. Much of the time, the talkers and listeners do not themselves understand what they are saying. They use key words and phrases as gang signs: badges of identity that are recognized without necessarily being understood.

Rupert Murdoch, Roger Ailes, and the others have fenced off conservative Americans from the rest of American society. Within that safe space, insiders hear only what is familiar and comforting. When those protected insiders step outside into the larger world, they find themselves completely unprepared for it."

They are very well done, Easy to build, the manuals are superb. You can finish them in whatever color combo you wish, It took me a weekend to put my crack+speedball together, it was all very worth it. The experience is an enjoyable one, just follow the manual and you'll be good to go.

I just saw your post in the headphone thread! Definitely deserve props for making your own Bottlehead Crack. I cheaped out and went with a Schiit Asgard 2. They weren't kidding when they said those heat up!

Awesome!  I'm actually in the reverse position - built my Bottlehead Crack about a year ago and now I'm actually looking to build a 60 / 65% kit..... Now if only I could source a Whitefox kit.
