Large Update:

Here is the order of the remaining boards:

Batch #2: Lightning Silver, Olive Green, Rose Gold, Vortex Gray
Batch #3: Blue Gray, Jet Black, Pink
Batch #4: Meteorite Gray, Ultra Violet, Crimson Red

Show Image

Why this order? As noted in the image, the 3 big colors still require testing. I'm not confident I can achieve very good anodizing matching for select colors, and I would rather do a test batch on a different board first instead of risking it with this project.

The rest of the colors are based purely on popularity. The more parts required of the color, the higher priority it has. The only exception to this is Crimson Red and Olive Green - there are more CR, but those waiting on CR 220s will get their CR 280s shortly. Imo this is better than making 3 people wait the longest without anything.

Each batch should take around 6-8 weeks to produce, so please consider this as I will allow color switching. If you would like to swap colors, please PM me with your previous color, and the color you'd like to change to. Please note that Rose Gold & Vortex Gray are unavailable to switch to.

I've spent a very long time figuring this out, including scheduling testing & making sure it's absolutely fair to everyone. If there is major kickback on something, then I'll do everything to try and resolve it in both of our interests.

Why are we at this point?

The original factory I was going to use kept producing worse stuff every batch, I had to change factories.

The two options were:
  • Produce stuff at original factory anyway, lose lots of money due to bad quality parts, and eventually reproduce at the new factory
  • Not waste tens of thousands of $$$ hoping the OG factory magically improve, and just find a better factory that can be trusted
Either option would take a while as we all can see, but I'm glad I went with the second option.

There's a catch with the new factory though - being limited to 3 colors + silver per anodizing batch. This is to get higher quality from each run, but due to this buy offering lots of colors originally, and wanting to honor all of those, it'll take 4 batches (of which 1 has already been done) to complete. I'd love to just push them all into 1 batch and get this done with, but it just isn't possible. So this is the best I can do.

Any pics of the plate mounting? Curious what your research has yielded.

Heh.

I've gone for evenly spaced for alphas and then on the edge. I haven't done my research yet, but from what I've experienced in 268 and using other keyboards etc, I think the focus on the alphas makes the most sense.

Posting to express appreciation for the unusual color offerings and the pink!

Yup.

No, only one option is available ;)

Suppose I can do. It'll be very clear when the form goes up though.

Yes - that is the plate. Depends what you need for layout.

I'm probably looking at the brass plate and going to put some lacquer on it to prevent tarnish.

Correct, you need Case + PCB, and the options below that are all plates to pick from, and you only need one of that.

5mm brass 220 when?!

lol

not enough demand but I can always reassess the meme

I'm assuming 6061? Or is 7075 an option?

6061. If people that enter and pay want to try 7075, I'll organize afterwards. Would rather people join because of the design than material.

Well dang, first GB gonna put 850$ in...

Any chance the polycarb will be frosted?

Yup, it's all frosted.

Pardon me for not quite understanding, but does this mean that I only need one of the options below the PCB, bare minimum?

You will need the case (top/weight/bottom), 1 PCB, and 1 plate minimum. You can get extra PCBs and extra plates if you want.

Also just so it's noted/clarified:

If demand for 220 exceeds slots available, I will make the normal one 220 (& make it unlimited/limited to 100), and there will be a few 220 S available.

For now, the only difference is numbering, but the weight may change on 220 S to separate it.

Also thanks for all the interest, means a lot :-*
