IBM Pingmaster question

So I just got my Pingmaster in the mail and I already ordered an adapter from Hasu, really like the feel of the board, especially the keycaps. I was wondering if anyone here knew how to take off the little covers over the relegendable keycaps, because they almost seem clipped on. I don't want to risk breaking one of the covers by using a flat screwdriver or something. Wanted to relegend some of the caps for macros once I get the adapter.

What's the trick to getting them off?

The easiest way I've found is to first pull the keycap. At the back of the cap there is a partial oval projection that extends though the clear top cap:


               

Then while gently squeezing the cap from front to back, gently use a needle nose pliers to pull the cap base out of the clear top cap:




Just remember to be gentle with the pliers so you don't damage the stem.

I thought these came with "key cover pullers" (or whatever the right term is). Attached.

Then you grab just the cover by the left & right side.

Never saw one, that's just what I've gathered.

That would be  better for sure! Unfortunately for me my box got thrown away (not my me) after I unpacked the board so never saw that!

Bummer. Maybe someone who has one could do an engineering drawing of it so people could make their own.

I use a standard cheapo key puller "Popular 5pcs ABS Plastic Mechanical Keyboard Rounded Key Cap Puller Remove Tool" from fleabay.
With key still in the keyboard grip from the side... a bit of a wiggle and usually the cap pulls before the key. you will get the feel for it after a few tries.
