Help me identify these fake neon green Alps!
« on: Mon, 25 November 2019, 16:15:01 »
Ok. So after about 2 years of owning this board I've finally come to the conclusion that I want to use these switches in a build. The main issue is that I can't actually get an accurate answer of what they are.

What is my guess? A tactical variant of the Ducky KSB-C switch (Which is a variant of the Xiang Min KSB series) https://deskthority.net/wiki/Xiang_Min_KSB_series

Why is that weird? The Ducky variant is supposed to be clicky.

So now I'm a little stuck. Is this just a tactical version of the Xiang Min KSB series Ducky switch that just so happens to be tactical and neon green? Or is this a different clone that is deliberately ripping off the Alps SKCM Green (Not that I care)?

I am seriously considering putting these in the h87a Alps build I plan to put together this winter (Waiting on the case), I enjoy the feel quite a bit (They seem very tactical and kind of remind me of stock cherry mx clears but much smoother and they sound a little more pingy).

So, what the hell do I even call these?

Can you open up a switch and show us inside?

How do you determine if an alps switch is fake or not?

How do you determine if an alps switch is fake or not?

No known genuine alps switches have centred random numbers under the slider like these do.

It also seems like the KSB series of switches are much younger than this board. So now I'm kinda lost...lol. The only other guess I have is alps.tw Type T5 variant that isn't documented yet? After looking inside this switch the internals are just different from the KSB switches.

Is there not another leaf for tactility or is it just the basic switch plate?

Nope. This is it.

I was kinda confused too lol. Guess they're linears? They definitely felt tactile to me but I guess I'm dumb lol.
