I'm settled on the 45g linear switch for sure. I don't mind going up to 50g, but preferably no more. With that in mind, what are your opinions on the best sounding 45g linear switches? For my personal preference, I prefer the deeper sound rather than the higher clicky sound. I consider cherry mx reds to be on the higher clicky side (even as a linear they're clicky sounding on the bottom out). So I wouldn't want these.

What are your recommendations for a 45g linear switch straight out of the box? Also, if you have a frankenswitch recommendation I'd be happy to hear it. The holy pandas typically sound the best to me but I haven't seen a version of them in the 45g linear variant.

Is that 45g actuation or bottom out? Assuming you mean actuation, I'd recommend Gateron red inks, Alpacas, and C3 Tangerines. Do keep in mind that sound is also affected by the rest of the keyboards construction, like keycaps, mounting method, plate material, etc. and you aren't really gonna get a deep sound out of the box, pretty much all switches are clacky (high pitched) out of the box, rather than thocky (low pitch), so I'd highly recommend lubing and filming, the improvements in sound and smoothness really is worth the time and money.

YOK Burgundies (Panda housing, usually a YOK Panda, with a Kailh Burgundy stem in it) are the closest thing to linear Holy Pandas.

Much appreciated. I'll try to find sound vids on youtube of those switches you mentioned. Yes I meant the actuation, but more broadly anything that fits within the typical red switch standards. I've heard about the pandas with burgundy stems; very curious about those. And I definitely agree on the significance of the actual keyboard and preparation of the switches affecting sound. All videos I've watched with the Singa keyboard... that keyboard makes anything sound beautiful.

Reds have a bottom out of around 60g-65g, so if you don't like the stock weighting of a switch you can always spring swap (I like TX springs) to a weighting in that range.
