Box thick clicks modded as close as possible to Alps SKCM?
« on: Thu, 16 April 2020, 14:49:44 »
Has anybody found an ideal combination of spring and clickbar for the kailh thick clicks, to closely emulate clicky Alps (as closely as possible anyway)? I have tried the SPRiT 25g and 30g clickbars in combination with the 50g, 55g, and 60g springs and combinations of them with the stock spring and clickbar, and I found that the SPRiT clicbars did significantly lessen the upstroke click and tactility, and (MAYBE) round/smooth out the feel of the downstroke tactile event and make for a switch that's lighter than navies without such a noticeable difference in balance between clickbar and spring, but they still feel just about the same for the most part, and it does certainly seem like as the spring weight increases, the pitch of the click does get higher (unfortunately).

I had read that there were previous attempts at some of these springs and clickbars, so what I'm dealing with are the latest.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Following.
I had a similar thought because I’m building a board (plans here) https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=23751 that will have SMK 2nd gen switches in the main body but the numpad will be cherry only comparable so I want the feel to be as close as possible.

I imagine it will be a matter of tons of comparison. And even then, at the end of the day, there’s nothing like alps :)

That's a really cool project. Good luck to you.
