Hello From Iowa
« on: Mon, 11 May 2020, 22:37:40 »
I have been interested in mechs for many years, but I never dove too deep. My first was a Razer BW 2014 that I ran for several years. Then I got a Das 4 ult when I had my own office. That has now been converted from Cherry Blues to Aliaz 70g when I moved into an open office environment. Last year I added an AP2 as a test to see if I liked the 60% profile. Turns out I do and further down the rabbit hole I go in this hobby.

Hi jdnoss. Welcome to Geekhack.

Nice I have a Das Pro 4 that I quite like. Those Ultimates look slick. I forgot entirely about Aliaz. I'm not a tactile guy, but how have you liked them?

What switches have you tried? Which do you like?

I like the Aliaz switches, they are more tactile than MX browns. I mainly bought them because the are one of the most affordable silent switches.

I haven't had the opportunity to try that many switches in board. I haven't a switch pack that has the main cherry, gateron, and kahil switches. My AP2 has kahil box reds. I would like to try some of the more custom switches though.

KPrepublic has a 130 switch tester that covers most of the major common switches. Not really any of the boutique ones though, unfortunately.

I like box reds. Might not be the very best linears on earth, but they're better than most. I'm not usually a linear guy though either. How would you rate them vs Aliaz as far as smoothness?

I'm not really sure anymore. I lubed my Aliaz so now they are definitely smoother now.
