As others have said, companies like Originative keep some sets in stock, but GMK key cap sets aren’t a retail commodity for the most part, they’re limited edition runs. In order to justify the cost of these production runs, group-buys happen (this is the same model Kickstarter, for example, employs) - this is the opposite of a retail model where stock is purchased based on prediction and then kept in stock based on demand.
Because of this high demand, even if vendors have sets left in stock after a group-buy has ended, they get sold through very fast. So you have to be lucky and fast to get in on those. If there’s a set you want that you’ve seen is in Group-Buy? Your only choice is to pre-order. If it’s a very popular set and what you’re seeing is a second or third round of orders, you might be able to find the set second hand here in the classified market or on /r/mechmarket, but you’re looking at paying a high percentage markup on the most popular sets.
If it’s just Cherry profile keycaps you want, you’ll find sets on Aliexpress and Amazon, but if it’s specifically GMK sets you want, then you have to accept the reality of the market. Think of it as buying a present for your future self?
