Need a new keyboard (again)
« on: Thu, 29 July 2010, 10:39:55 »
I've been looking for a nice mechanical board to get on a budget. I've been using my ThinkPad as a main computer for a long time, and most people here I'm sure know that ThinkPad keyboards are glorious. Anyway, now that I have a tower, it's become my main computer and I'm using some old Sony VAIO keyboard from 1996 which sucks. I was thinking of getting the Scorpius M10 since it was a cheap way to get into Cherry blue switches, but I heard it was unreliable.

I'm good with a soldering iron, so I'm not concerned about being able to repair it myself if some parts need re-soldering. I don't want to end up doing it all the time, though, if that's the case I'll just get something better. I really don't want to spend a lot of money, but I'd like to hear from people that have owned an M10 for a while.

From what I've read of people that repaired theirs, fixed right once, you won't be doing it all the time.

Would my money be better spent elsewhere?

I'm open to different kinds of switches, btw, I'm not set on Blues, as I've never used any Cherry switch boards. Just want something good for endless nights of programming and StarCraft along with the occasional game of Counter Strike.

I think they're the best full sized keyboard for the price right now. Can't beat getting 105 cherry blues for under $60, even if you throw out the keyboard.  I've had one for 6 months now and it hasn't failed on me, but of course I don't use it everyday.
