Looking for XD75re advice.
« on: Mon, 28 December 2020, 05:13:18 »
Hiya,

I'm new here and am asking for some thoughts for my first build! I'm trying to do a build on the XD75re and am seeking advice on what I should consider for the case. I know that there are 60% cases that don't "fit well" for this specific board but have seen people complete their own build that are not standard for it. My parts are currently:

The keyboard: https://kprepublic.com/products/xd75re-xd75am-xd75-xiudi-60-custom-keyboard-pcb?variant=958306058284
The plate: https://kprepublic.com/products/alps-stainless-steel-plate-for-xd75am-xd75-60-custom-keyboard-mechanical-keyboard-plate-support-xd75am-alps-matias-switch-stem?variant=1201523359788
The case (which I'm stilling debating if I should make it easy on myself or try to seek out my vision): https://kprepublic.com/products/wooden-case-wood-case-walnut-rosewood-zebra-wood-with-wood-wrist-high-quality-free-shipping-for-gh60-xd64-poker-2-60?variant=9697180778540

The Switch: https://www.pcgamingrace.com/products/glorious-panda-mechanical-switches
The Keycaps (getting blanks, and still trying to figure out how to make it work. I emailed customer service if I can potentially customize what caps I can get since I just want the blank, normal sized ones.): https://pimpmykeyboard.com/dsa-coffee-house-keyset-sublimated/

I'd appreciate any help I can get because I definitely need it, haha!

I built one of those a while back.  I first used a regular 60% case, and while it "fit", I never got the pcb to sit properly in the case, even after some filing and sanding.  I think I need to drill out more of the case standoffs for it to sit right.  it's doable, but requires some work.

but about that time, I got a 3d printer and printed my own case:

Also, I don't think you want an Alps plate if you aren't using Matias/alps switches.  you need a plate to fit MX switches if you want to use the pandas.

I've used the PCB a few times.

There's also the BFO9000 from keeb.io

The glass bottom case is delightful.

With standard 60% poker cases i didn't have issues with my XD75RE. You can only use 3 screw holes the one on the sides and bottom i think. While you don't use all the posts it seats firmly.
