Choosing spring weights
« on: Wed, 30 June 2021, 01:10:20 »
I am tearing down one of my boards and replacing stabilizers, switches, lube, etc.  It will have Kailh Burnt Orange switches, but I am lightening the springs to probably 55g.  Ultimately it is just personal preference and experimentation, but does anyone when customizing springs use multiple spring weights?  I was thinking going 55g for the letters and maybe 62 or 63 for the modifiers and space bar.  This is fun, but I'm hoping not to have to open up the case and resolder multiple times.  I was wondering if there are spring combinations that have worked for other people, or if they have tried any of the new "slow" or "progressive" springs for modifiers.

a lot of vintage board uses a heavier switch/spring for the spacebar, so that is not out of this world crazy (green for blue board, black for red board when talking cherry), and if you look at the topre realforce they use variable rates across the board, although it is heavier toward the center and lighter on the edge to help with weaker pinkies.
i also tried on my 1st board but used brown as my main switches and very much disliked them.
