GMK VS Cherry Stabilizer
« on: Tue, 09 February 2021, 13:41:41 »
Does anyone know what is the difference between these two?
Also, do you guys consider what stabilizer to put in when building your keyboard? If you do what factor do you consider?

Durock feels like it is the go-to right now for stabilizers, they recently fixed the issue with the wire popping out.

Wires popping are usually due to user just putting a sticker under the housing and causing it to bend.
You can put a sticker the size of the housing opening and prevent that, doing that right now with the Everglide stabs (which from what I’ve read, the same as durock v1).

Authentic Cherry/GMK stabs are the same thing AFAIK, Cherry makes them & GMK sells them. The screw in variety of these used to be my goto stabs, but they have become a good bit worse after a retool of thier molds around a year ago. So since then Durock V1 stabs have been my goto brand. I've personally never had issues with wires popping on them, although I do not use the band aid mod ever so that lends some credence to what Leopard223 said. I also feel that popped wires on the spacebar stab is quite often from keycap removal. If you don't pull the bar from both ends the twisting action side to side from pulling one side at a time will pop the wire irregardless of what stabs you are using IME.

no difference since everything GMK (up until the retools) was just Cherry molds
