How would one install stabilizers to this plate? [ALPS]
« on: Sun, 30 May 2021, 11:37:12 »
Greetings everyone,

I have been entertaining the idea of making a small ALPS keyboard lately and it seems like finding a plate is difficult and getting a custom one made is somewhat expensive. I've run into this one however:

https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2711/4238/products/Hdd62fdced08048a2bee5b07dc945c57ec_1024x1024.jpg?v=1572579081

and I can't for the life of me figure out how the stabilizers would be mounted. It is specifically said that it's an ALPS plate and not an MX one. Even if all other stabs are costar style (which I am fine with), I still can't see the ENTER key stab being installed in any way due to the cutout. Can anyone that is more experienced with ALPS share some wisdom with me? Is this plate usable or should I just go ahead and splurge on a custom made one?

This plate is made to use a mix of Cherry mount stabs and Alps switches. This one is more meant for the new Alps key-sets that use MX for stabilizers.

I could be wrong but, I am pretty sure its that. So old vintage keyboards are out of the question. I also once did it by cutting the original keyboard plate to a 60% size that also works.
