USB connect/disconnect sounds
« on: Sat, 03 July 2021, 13:28:07 »
Hello Keyboarders,

i recently finished my first build. Its a KBD75V2 with the V2 PCB. I also made my own USB Cable for it. From the point i started using my new keyboard i get constantly USB plug in and deplug sounds from windows, even when its in use. I had it already two times while i type this post. Sometimes it remains silent for a few minutes, and sometimes it switches 3 times a minute. Whats strange about that- the keyboard is not really unplugged. It works fine, and also the rgb lighting remains on. I have no issues with the use. It's just the sounds. It started with using the keyboard, so i have no other "new" devices i started using.
Do you know this problem? Did i missed something? The power management is on performance level, so there is no USB standby or power of enabled.

Thanks for your help in advance

Two hypothesises:
* Bad USB connection. Either a bad connector or a cold solder joint. Have you tried with another USB-C cable?
* Some backlit keyboards have a quite high power draw, near the edge of what is permissible. Technically, a USB host port is allowed to shut off a device if it draws too much. But I find this to be less plausible unless you're using a laptop. Have you tried shutting off the backlight?

I didn't check the connection or the backlight. Bad connection seems to be impossible, as i have no issues at all, while writing or gaming. No "missing key" or something. Sometimes there are several seconds between the disconnect and the connect sound, but in between those sounds- they keyboard works perfectly fine.
But yes, i will check it with another USB-cable, and also the backlight thing. Will post the result here :)
