Gambled on some SKCM Ambers
« on: Fri, 05 November 2021, 15:57:42 »
Bought an Apple IIc on ebay to get some ambers, in the hopes that they were a) actually ambers and b) in decent condition. Did actually get ambers. Not in good condition lol. Super freaking scratchy. I'm sad, but not super surprised. I might just get a power cable and test the Apple IIc and then resell it. I do want an Apple II computer to have, although I had a IIe growing up, but a IIc would be cool. Also considering trying to clean them, but is there really much hope? I guess it's worth the try. Gonna have to learn how to de-solder haha.

Also, even though they're not in great condition, assuming they clean up ok, do you think people would buy them? I don't know if I want to keep them, but if someone else were willing to buy them and use them, I wouldn't be opposed haha. If I do that, I'll make sure the Apple is working, solder in some cheaper switches, and either keep it or sell it. Would hate to waste a working Apple IIc, assuming it's working, or at least repairable.

Anyone else ever have any luck hunting for SKCM Ambers? I wonder if this is just a fool's errand haha. Then again, I knew this Apple was on the dirtier side, so I should have known chances were they were going to be in bad shape.
