Model M issue, need help on diagnosis
« on: Thu, 09 December 2021, 04:52:32 »
Hello, 2 years ago i restored an old Unicomp 122 key model M, the membranes were good and it only needed a few springs and most rivets were gone so a bolt mod, been working a charm for all this time until a few days ago when a few random keys stopped registering, G, H, numpad0 and menu. from following the traces they seem to not all be on the same row, H and 0 seem to be G on an other and menu on a third, neither on the same column. The keys were clicking with the same sound as all the others around. i am wondering if i assembled it wrong and it failed because of that over time.
I had assembled it with the rubber sheets on top of the membranes, and found some tears in them near those keys, but also near others that works, and the membranes do not look more oxidized/damage than they were back then.
i do have 2 other for parts 122 keys unicomps so i can try stuff before ordering, but i'd appreciate some pointers if possible, and they are for parts because of dead membranes...

well i failed on tracing the row, traced H and J instead of G and H, all the keys are on the same row and i found that it is a few hundreds ohms to the connector, so yeah i got 3 Ms with dead membranes... need to find a way to get membranes to Europe now...
