FSG is a long defunct paramilitary militia under the control of the Governor of Florida.
Since state militias were rolled into the National Guard last century, they have still been generally commanded by the Governors of the various states, although they can still be called up by the President if needed.
DeSantis has revived the old Florida State Guard to be specifically under his charge, and has not made it a secret that he intends to use it as an election tool.
