i dont think we will see any more mechanical keyboards from razer until the black window has been out for quite some time and has reached some home penetration to cause people out there to get addicted to mechanical and then demand will go up.

Plus even if they were impressed by black widow's interest/preorder/sell out it takes them a while to make up some fresh marketing bull**** for their next press release, as well as make some change/add some feature no one wanted or needed to begin with. =P

I don't hate Razer, I have a Deathadder and I love it. I do know however that I payed for a throbbing logo and a lot of marketing and well, a certificate of authenticity .................................

Still I think it's a great mouse.

But keyboards? C'mon now. Has Razer made a proper keyboard that's properly priced and not a ripp-off to this date?

Razer makes great products.  I've owned a deathadder since they were released and love it.  I also own a Naga which i use when playing mmos.  I also plan on buying their morray + headset.

I own a Lycosa as well, and i actually like it.  Its the best keyboard ive ever used (only ever used rubber dome) And it fits my style with flat low cap keys.  What i dont like however is their marketing team and their markup on keyboards.

What I will give them is their software is great compared to other keyboard companies.  Logitech's "gaming" keyboards are useless/gimicky.

Also is ghetto lighting method even possible with mechanical switches?

I thought thats why each key is individually lit, not because its "cooler" but because they have to do it that way because there is no clear membrane to shine through.

I suppose they could use clear plastic on their switch plates but then they have to manufacturer that themselves instead of just ordering cherry mx switches.


Deck seems great but their distribution sucks and their R&D is near non existent, they have not really innovated their product line in years.

Razer at least tries, and sometimes fails with their innovations.  Like these thumb buttons on this mmo keyboard, or the macro recording on the fly, or the moved Function key row.

Sure some of their changes are retarded but they keep it fresh and try new things which is what I like about them.  I just wish they would stop overcharging for membrane boards.

This sounds no different than an apple rant, are their stuff just as stupidly overpriced and marketed to hell? yeah but that doesn't mean the stuff is nicely made and performs how ppl want it.

I don't like keys that rub off to blind people worse than a Razer BW with ClickClack's mythical ice keys.
I don't like gaming optimized versus NKRO, but since my PS2 port mysteriously died, I'm having to deal with 6KRO at the moment.

I like my Death Adder 3600, but $30 I paid was the right price, not the original $60? price.

but yeah, what nadger said is also true. they might put ****ty products on the market and make a lot of errors with their boards, but at least they put new stuff out and try to shake things up. Meanwhile at Deck:

I mean, because the thumb keys on this "green" thing seems to be....
too low, too flat, too packed, too shiny-slippery and too awkward to really actually press them.
And it's a shame that every keys on this keyboard are lighted up by LEDs EXCEPT the thumb keys (LOL), which means you can't use this thing in the dark if you still want to use that awkward thumbies, making LEDs useless.

Typing Japanese with that kind of keyboard is so neat! I don't have the "real" Japanese layout keyboard, when typing Japanese I have to type in romanized and pressing spacebar until i find my kanji, so painful :(
