INTRO

hi there! thanks for stopping by my first keycap set IC for DCS Richat!

DCS Richat is inspired / themed after the Richat structure aka 'The Eye of The Sahara'. for a quick backstory- the Richat structure is an extremely unique geological feature located in Mauritania. there are a few theories as to how this structure came to be, most of them pointing to natural volcanic activity or erosion, but the most intriguing is that it could be the site of Atlantis. the name Richat is a shortened form of the arabic name Guelb er Richât meaning Heart / dome of feathers.

Other than just an awesome 'lore' and incredible visuals, the structures colors really resonated with me. for the most part the colors are fairly accurate to the structure, but if anything, they are slightly desaturated and lightened.
- the base alpha color reflects the surrounding and interwoven natural sand tones.
- the darker mods are inspired by the surrounding mountains and concentric circles
- the legends and accents hint at the speckled salt deposits.

novelties theming takes after the structure,  Atlantis theme, feathers for the Richat name and a few iconic desert silhouettes. as of now, they will all be pad printed, but are considering doing the less intricate novelties double shot.

unlike "others" i like the color theme. 

what i would do is to reduce the "reddish" tone in the alphas a bit.

Have plastic Pantone chips coming? 4675C looks less red on my best monitor than it does on the renders.

i have the pantone color guide book, but i did order plastic swatches from pantone- they are otw. there’s no red tones or tint in 4675 C, its a neutral and muted beige/sand color leaning slightly warm. if you compare the reference pic i included of the richat structure, the surrounding sand is a more reddish/orangish tone compared to 4675, and i intentionally went away from that. the beige color inside the concentric circles is what i was going for
some of the renders might make it seem a little more reddish but its just a render at the end of the day. maybe because the background leans slightly green it might bring out some reddish tones on the alphas.

TLDR - there’s no red in the alpha, renders are still renders but maybe the background and lighting can bring out some reddish tones. there are a lot of variables that can affect how the color looks.
