[IC]Layout Keys
« on: Thu, 17 July 2025, 12:24:13 »

Hi everyone, We are ADCO_DESIGN&CO. Presenting our first set, "Layout".
Inspired by typographic principles from graphic design – think grid systems and visual hierarchy translated to keycap legends.

Design Concept:
More
I treat each keycap as an independent visual medium. By applying the four core principles of typographic design—alignment, contrast, repetition, and proximity—I structurally arrange the textual information on the keycap. This approach preserves its functional purpose while imbuing it with order and visual elegance.
After incorporating text and graphic elements, the keycap's visual hierarchy becomes more complex. To prevent excessive colors from creating clutter, a black substrate serves as the deliberate choice—it effectively anchors and unifies these visual components. For character coloring, a soft off-white gray is selected to enhance visual comfort and legibility.
For specific key groups like the function row (F-keys), function cluster, and the spacebar row, we've implemented secondary legends in silver and gold hues. This maintains visual consistency while providing supplementary functional information through side-engraved characters.

Big fan of this design choice, but may I ask why no shinethrough caps lock and scroll lock yet there are 4 shinethrough novelties in the base set?

During the design phase, the Caps Lock key with a light-cap would occupy a portion of the frontal visual space. To preserve visual integrity, we initially opted against including it. We've now received multiple requests for this feature and will subsequently redesign a dedicated light-cap version for Caps Lock—which will be offered alongside the existing solid version. Thank you for raising this point; it perfectly aligns with the purpose of our IC.
