Rant: I HATE the new eBay changes!
« on: Mon, 08 November 2010, 12:18:22 »
You used to be able to send a message to a seller easily. Now, they have a stupid list of answers you have to go through and half the time it won't let you contact the seller at all. What the hell can you do if you can't contact the seller, but you have to ask them something?? The dumbest thing is that even after buying something from the seller, you still get the stupid list when you want to contact them.

They've also loaded every page with tons of javascript nonsense. When I want to click on a message in my inbox, the page hops all over the damn place. If I want to click on a message, I move the pointer to it, but it hops up - so I move up to click on it and it hops down! Every time I want to see a message, I have to chase it all over the ****ing place and click on it a minimum of 5 times before I can see it. The same thing happens when clicking on another page of a multi-page list. I assume this kind of crap doesn't happen with the latest browsers (or I would have heard others complain). Unfortunately, I can't upgrade beyond Firefox 2 - but I see no reason why they'd have to make this change that screws it up for older browsers.

They also seem to want to hide which country the seller is in, even the auction number is getting hard to locate. It's getting annoying. Too many arty designers posing as programmers I suspect. No idea of what is practical. Sack 'em ebay!

I had to look up who the hell Meg Whitman is. (...and now I wish I didn't)

When I first heard of eBay, I thought it was Canadian - an online version of "The Bay" (Hudson's Bay Company). Even the colours are like the colours on the historical HBC blankets. I thought, "Wow, that Canadian site is getting popular."

(...but then those damn Americans bought out the Hudson's Bay Company, so even if eBay was Canadian, it would be American now.)

Meg Whitman is going to buy a Canadian PM position now.

There's much less demand for the Canadian PM position. You can pick them up pretty cheap.

The problem is that you have to also speak French - and Americans can only speak..."American". You also have to know about countries other than the US, which seems to be a bit complicated for most Americans.

Yeah, but which Chinese? Mandarin? Cantonese? Min, Jin, Wu., Xiang or another weirdo dialect?? I'd hate to put effort into being fluent in Mandarin and not know that some Cantonese guy is calling me an ******* without me knowing it.

You better also get him to learn Hindi. (should make tech support easier to understand)

Wait a minute... this thread is about my eBay rant. You're polluting my rant - "rant pollution"!
(it's a serious problem these days...)

mandarin,
cantonese is probably going to be a dying dialect. Mandarin is what most business speaks on the mainland, hong kong is still cantonese, but come on, that's just hong kong. If anything all movies have switched to mandarin.

the switch started back in 97 when hong kong got returned to China (or is semi independant, whatever the brits lost it). And i believe it was a studio (movie studio) decision among all the studios.

Another annoying thing I forgot to mention...

When you do finally manage to get to the spot where you can send a message to a seller, they now have a security code you have to enter before sending. The problem is - it usually expires before you're finished typing the message! So far, out of four different messages I've sent, I only managed to beat the expiry time on one of them. For the other three, I got an error and had to reload the page and retype the security code.

Why the hell does the security code expire before you can type the damn message??

Word or notepad?? I don't use Windows. Anyway, why should I have to type in a text editor, then cut & paste into a browser - when the browser edit window is a text editor??

No, they should just increase the security expiry time limit to at least 5 minutes.

i've noticed a real decrease in usability across all the sites i regularly visit.

i'm tired of web 3.0. I want to go back to web 2.0.

I reserve the right to complain about anything that is worse than it once was - and also anything which is better than it once was... if I prefer it the way it was.

The item number and location are exactly where they have been for ages, in a collapsible element on the right below the seller's name, feedback, etc.

Not any more, not on the UK site.

eBay really sucks, and costs too much. There really should be a popular free alternative (like the YouTube of Auctions / Sellers(Amazon alternative.)

Exactly. I can't even watch TV or movies anymore. It's such garbage - singing crap, reality ****, annoying jerks and bimbos with attitude doing fake acting while the cameraman shakes the camera like a drunken twit - all edited by a moron on crack cocaine with music supplied by the latest "crap-hop" crimedog. (...yeah, I'm bitter)

If you show an ebay search in 'Window Shopping' format, it no longer shows a shrunken version of each product image. Instead, it shows you the top left corner of the photo instead. Nice one ebay!

Wow you guys are really pouring the hate on. A lot of stuff that is bad now is just as bad as it was back then.
I'm pretty sure if I asked my nephews right now (who are 18+) to go and watch back to the future 1-3 they would be like, "uncle why are you making us watch these campy 80's movies"
I only bring this up cuz back to the future just got released on bluray and is on the movie networks and i watched it and i was like wow! this be horrible to watch! (of course i'm not saying all 80's movies are campy, Aliens should always be a movie action movies aspire to, and every hero should be as kick ass as robocop)

Just don't watch MTV/E! lol those channels are putrid, watch MTV2(where the real music videos are).

Anyone check out hawaii 5-0 remake? even tho it has 1/2 of the idiot brothers from the oceans movies it has possibly the two most marketable asians (jin and boomer!)
I mean if your talking about 80's lust, there are TONS of remakes, cuz so many pplz love the 80's
A team! remake
growing up watching Ateam+knight rider (knight industries 2 thousand and evil brother karr kight automated roving robot, just to show my 80's fandom) i found the remake to be great! except for of course...
Mr T.
That guy just couldn't pull off Mr T. the murdock guy was soso. But QuiGon as hannibal was awesome~! (i think he used his Taken persona more which was great too) And the hangover guy, my fiancee say's he's really good looking so that's like 99% of the requirement to pass as "face" anyway.

actually even funnier is that we call it "thé" in French, so they spelled THAT wrong too.

Although that is phonetically correct, especially for us Canadians (thé = t-eh?) ;)
