How to get MX Browns in NZ without ridiculous shipping
« on: Sun, 19 December 2010, 23:43:30 »
Since I'm on holiday and no job at the moment I'm planning to mod a Belkin n52 speedpad. Ordered the n52 and some of the parts but hit a bit of a hiccup with the switches. Since I only need 16 switches I don't really want to pay over US$70 for shipping (x-keys). So seeing if anyone knows of a better way.
All I can really think of is:
A board I can cannibalize
Switches from a board you've cannibalized
Shipping to someone in the US then shipping them on with standard/cheap USPS

I'd also take Clears or Blacks if it's much easier.
Any help or suggestions welcome.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the suggestions. No digikey distro in NZ, and RS and Farnell don't have distro in NZ either, even though the websites make it seem like they do. I'll have another look at mouser, if I find some more things to order from there it would make it worth it. I've been tempted by a beagleboard for a while and they do free UPS with purchases over NZ$200... might be a bit too much for now though lol.

We don't even have ebay here (ebay never made a proper NZ site, it always just redirected to the US one - so a local site took the market instead). I do order stuff internationally on ebay quite a bit though. I guess a slight advantage is that it's a very small market so I can pick up some nice bargains... not that there's many mechanical boards though.

And lol ripster, yeah there's a lot of sheep in NZ but I don't often see them since I'm in Auckland.

X-keys do have some issues with having just one shipping rate. I was about to order some stuff, but 25-30x the price of item is bit over kill in my opinion...
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...
