I'm not sure if anyone will consider this "great" enough to post here or not.

I stumbled across G84-4100s at cdw.ca for $4.99:

The catch that I see is that the spec section says that the layout is QWERTZ.  That may stop a lot of people from buying them but I would think that plenty of geekhackers either want the layout, know how to convert it to QWERTY (or something else entirely) for free.

This uses black Cherry ML mechanical switches.

I don't think it really is QWERTZ, the part number has US on the end, and other lines in the spec say English/US.

I will say that http://www.cherrycorp.com/english/keyboards/pdf/CHE_212613_ShortFormCat_r9.pdf shows it as a mechanical, QWERTY layout with tampo-printed keys.  No mention of QWERTZ or anything non-standard, other than a lack of windows key.

I already have two ML4100s that I acquired "somewhere".  I suppose a pristine one might be nice. for $5.....

Not sure if CDW US is selling at this price too, I haven't checked.

EDIT:  the cdw spec section also says "keyboard technology: membrane", but that doesn't jive with the part number (just like QWERTZ doesn't match up either).  I know you can't always trust reseller specs but they are all over the place.  I guess if one was to order perhaps a phone call to CDW would be a good idea to reconfirm the Cherry part#...

It all depends on whether it's one of those errors in your favour where you get the right thing at their loss, or an error where you get the wrong thing at your loss

Hmm, don't know about Canadian legistlation, but atleast here if offer is something which should cleary be readen as error they can refuse to full-fill it. Meaning under on tenth of price, but not if they are like 10-20% under normal.

Well, refusing to fulfill it isn't that big a deal in that case, and I wouldn't cause a fuss over that.  The bad scenario would be if they shipped you some other model other than the 4100PRAUS which was, in fact, a QWERTZ layout membrane keyboard and then you had to hassle with RMA, restocking fees, shipping etc....

The "good" scenarios would be either receiving an actual 4100PRAUS or having them contact you post-sale and canceling the transaction and refunding your payment.

It does say "Advertised Price" as if it's some kind of special deal.  Who knows?

Hmmm, it appears that cdw.ca has put the shoe on the other foot and is enacting revenge on behalf of all the Canucks out there for usually being subjected to this kind of thing...  muahahahahaha :evil:

In all seriousness, if I didn't already have two of these I might consider ordering at least one to see what happens.  On the other hand, if I were an entrepreneur I'd order 10 or 20 and hit the buy/sell....
