Removing shine from double shot keycaps
« on: Fri, 25 February 2011, 11:03:07 »
Hello

i have double shot vintage keycaps from cherry (at least a french rebranding) they are a little bit yellow , but more annoying they are very smooth and shiny,  which is not very fine with my fingers (they stick on the keycaps).

Is it possible to sandblast them a little ?

Does anybody has ever done this to get some good feeling back ?

Thanks

i knew the retrobrite thing, i'll have to test it one day ,

For the sanding part i have seen it with the "blower" but with a sand paper it's still possible ?

Nice aluminium keycap by the way ;-)
any gold one ?

If you want to sand them use wet/dry sandpaper.  Get it from an auto store, they stock the finest grits.  http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Car/Care/Products/Product-Catalog/Pages/?nid=J2KMBW4WBRgsQ15LPGNZZQgl2BD509TNFQbl

Do we have an idea on how the original texture was produced nowadays, or is this still a mystery?
Hardware in signatures clutters Google search results. There should be a field in the profile for that (again).

This message was probably typed on a vintage G80-3000 with blues. Double-shots, baby. :D
