My mech kb buying journey and some questions
« on: Sat, 05 March 2011, 19:13:40 »
(If this is in the wrong forum section, sorry!)

I've been lurking these forums for the past few weeks, reading alot of threads, guides and reviews to find the best keyboard for me. I bought a blackwidow to get a feel for mechanical switches (I've been using membrane keys my entire life), but returned it quickly after seeing the hideous font and the blue switches being a but to loud and high pitched for me.

After alot of reading on this forums I decided I would get a brown switch keyboard such as filco brown, das or the new leopold. Since I live in Canada, availability of filco is a problem (I'm kind of iffy on shipping from eastern asia). Furthermore I require a full 10key keyboard (I'm an accounting student) so the new leopold 10keyles on elitekeyboards.com was out and I'm too impatient to wait for the full 10key.

In the end, I ordered a Das Professional Silent from ncix.com. It'll be at my doorstep on Monday, I wanted to thank the geekhack community for helping make that decision. Reading all the threads and reviews here really helped in my decision.

Now I have a question, do the following red esc keys for filcos fit onto the das?

http://elitekeyboards.com/products.php?sub=access,cherrymxkeys&pid=maj_redesc

I will post many pics when I get my das on Monday.

TL:DR Version: GeekHack is awesome,  I bought a Das silent, will red esc key from filco fit? Pics on Monday.

Welcome to the forums, good sir. I really hope you enjoy your new keyboard! I considered the Das models for a long time and they look really, really awesome. And yeah, these guys are super helpful and mighty informative!
