Bad ass wolf in my backyard
« on: Wed, 06 April 2011, 16:21:04 »
A friend just told me to lookup a monster wolf killed not far from where I live.

After a quick investigation, it turned out to be a late April fool. But the wolf is real. It has been killed in Drayton Valley, Alberta in 2009. Breaking a new record at 230 pounds.

Beware Red Riding Hood. There is some mean wolf out there.

I'm currently in Northern Quebec Province.

If you google image "loup de La Tuque" you will find the same pics. That's where my Sasquatch girl friend comes from. They do have wolves here but this is not where that one was killed.

As I wrote above, the real wolf was killed in Alberta, Canada in 2009.
Some local idiot here just made that claim again using the picture to his credit.

Still impressive. Apparently the biggest ever cached before was 175 pounds. This one is a serious monster.

I hope the Wolf wins next time.

Plenty of French Canadians.  Not many wolves.

I found a good article about this specimen. If real it was an anomaly.
That wolf might have been the only one of its kind. I didn't post this because I like big game hunting. I just wanted to share the wow impression I had when I saw it. Btw, you don't get that big by losing. This fellow must have had his share of winning too.

http://ecolocalizer.com/2009/11/27/albertas-record-size-wolf-fact-or-fiction/

"Unfortunately, focus upon this wolf issue has begun for the wrong reasons. In addition to the email chain that’s circulating, the wolf is a hot topic amongst hunters on hunting forums online. While there may be others out there like it, it is possible that this wolf, if reports are true, was an anomaly. Rather than being hunted for sport, it could have been studied in a natural setting for research purpose and an increased understanding of the evolution of the species.

Fact or fiction – the hype surrounding Alberta’s enormous timber wolf does make us wonder what other species are living among us that we’ve yet to discover. What do you believe?"

Yeah, I get the same feeling when I see pics like that.

But from what I understand, there have been issues with the rise of the wolf population. Farmers and ranchers don't take too kind to them as they attack/kill their stock. While I  can understand the farmers position, it still sucks to see the animal killed for only doing what nature intended.

Somewhat related, I remember seeing these pics some time ago, never saw the final verdict on whether it was real or fake. My guess it's probably some optical illusion, but it would be cool if this giant moose was real.

Depends on the size of the road. :-)

Here's another one... Born, raised and killed in the States.

I don't think Americans are in a good position to lecture Canadians on collateral damages done by guns.

Me speaking... I'd rather eat moose meat over beef's or chicken's poisoned by antibiotics and growth hormones who never saw the sun and were treated like **** their whole small life. If killed properly, the moose died without pain, probably with a smile, doing what he enjoys the most. If you ask me between the two, which life and death I want... I'd chose the moose's without question.

I have much less respect toward those who killed the wolf. Where it was done just for the fun of it. I don't see any fun in there. Poor wolf. But holly molly, this one was big.

I salute you for that. But I'm not there yet.
Working on it... Maybe one day.

The ethical question of food is complex. I personally think vegetal and animal are equal. Humans are just overrated plants. I think we as a specie are doing ok when we respect the balance of nature. All life forms should be respected.

I personally like those video's where the hunted animal get's to beat up the hunter. I'm no PETA or pacifist or nuttin, i just think that heck it's fair game. If a deer can beat out a guy with a technology designed to kill it, well you go rudolph, it is supposed to be a sport right?

I saw this video series where wolves are really the ancestors of dogs, but dogs have really different traits than humans, for one, dogs like humans. It's all about selective breeding over thousands of years, we got wolves, they lived with us and got fed to protect us. Then we chose the wolves that liked us more and bred them and so on and so on for thousands of years until we get a doggie that needs human affection.
This was also recently done in russia, some lady breeds silver foxes or something, she gets the tamest of the generation and keeps on breeding more and more tame, and they are like pets. She also breeds the crazy ones, and they are like super killers.

We animals are cuddly/kind and conscientious living beings, it is those "Bad-Posterior" hunters who are the Monsters...........with their conniving grins when posing pics for Bad-Posterity.
Often outspoken, please forgive any cause for offense.
Thank you all in GH for reading.

Worst of all, they don't even know it's Bad-Posterity.

Hey guys, give me a break. I'm starting to feel bad for posting it. We all know how wrong the human nauture can be. The goal was not to promote conniving grins.

I guess I missed the bigger picture when I did it...  My appologies to the ones I offended.

Still a big bad-posterior wolf.
