Filco Tenkeyless Otaku (Cherry Blue)
« on: Mon, 29 November 2010, 09:13:25 »
-- SOLD! --

Final Update: My initial buyer has decided not to purchase the keyboard. Since he made the decision before Friday and I have already been getting Paypal addresses, I'm going to take the best offer I get by 11:59:59PM tonight. Couple of things I should mention about the keyboard (my initial buyer actually recommended I mention this -- nice guy ^.^).

1) The keyboard is under warranty from EliteKeyboards until April 2011.
2) EliteKeyboards is currently sold out of Filco Keyboards (as of December 2, 2010)
3) The Filco "Otaku" versions are much harder to find than the regular versions (I guess most people already know this).

Anyway, the current best offer is $135 shipped to Canada ($145 shipped to the US) and I'm going to ship to the best offer I get by 11:59:59PM Eastern Time today (December 2nd, 2010). I'll update the current best offer on this listing throughout the day.

Update 2: I'm getting a fair number of offers on the keyboard and my initial potential buyer is still making a decision. To be fair since he PM'd me first, I'm giving him until this Friday evening to match my current best offer ($135 shipped to Canada, so about $145 shipped to the US). If he doesn't make a decision by then, I'm going to ship the keyboard to the first person who sends me their Paypal email address (so I can invoice them).

It's been a bit tedious trying to communicate through all these PM's so I  think next time I'm just going to set up an eBay auction, start it at 0.99, and then post a link to it here lol :S.

Update 1: Tentatively sold. There are quite a few people who have PM'd me in regard to this keyboard. I'll update this listing once the keyboard has been officially sold (or if, in the end, it remains unsold).

Price (based on current best offer):
$135 shipped to Canada.
$145 shipped to the US.
**Shipping & Handling is already included.

Hey guys,

I'm selling a Filco Tenkeyless Otaku keyboard (cherry blue switches). It's an "otaku" version so the keys are blank.

It has literally been used for no more than 30 minutes. I originally bought a Filco with cherry brown switches and decided to order this cherry blue keyboard because I thought I might prefer it. After using it for a bit, I was able to confirm that the brown switches are better suited to my taste but now I have an extra keyboard on my hands :).

Two images below (if they haven't shown up, just give it a sec for them to load because I didn't bother resizing them or anything).

The keyboard is practically mint and I'm shipping it with everything that it came with.

Included:
- Filco Tenkeyless Otaku Keyboard (Cherry Blue Switches)
- Red Esc Key
- PS/2 Adapter
- Keyboard Cover
- Box

Note: I'm only shipping to USA/Canada and I only accept payment via Paypal.

Price (based on current best offer):
$135 shipped to Canada.
$145 shipped to the US.
**Shipping & Handling is already included.

Where's your location? Would you consider shipping to the UK or not?

Thanks.

Yea, I'm in Canada. I generally prefer to just ship to Canada/USA because it's more convenient for me. I've seen ads for the same keyboard from users in the UK so you'd probably be able to get it cheaper if you wait for them. Sorry :(.

I think people generally try to outbid in order to claim an item, not underbid.

That sounds suspiciously like a shill-bidding strategy... ;)

I had to look up what that was lol. And no, it's not.. :S.

I was ready to sell the item at $140 ($150 US) and a buyer was ready to get it but decided he didn't want blue switches. I then lowered the price to $120 ($130 US) and received interest from a guy. I was ready to sell it to him but he wasn't quite sure if he wanted it. While he was deciding if he wanted it or not I received multiple other offers for the keyboard, one of which was offering $135 shipped to Canada. As a courtesy, I gave my second potential buyer (the one still making a decision) until Friday to make a decision and match the best offer. He decided to back out today so I'm going to just sell the keyboard to the best offer I get by tonight. I'm perfectly content with selling the keyboard at any price at or above $120 ($130 US) but I'm obviously interested in selling the keyboard for as much as I can so it makes no sense for me to accept anything less than the best offer...

Anyway, best offer is still $135.

I would like to state, for the record, that it is very annoying for a seller to have to deal with people low-balling them or not being up-front about their interest in their communication with the seller.

If you are a potential buyer, please avoid doing these things (with the exception of low-balling if it has a "or best offer" price). It's just not good geekhack marketplace etiquette.

Thanks keyboardlover. I think I was partly to blame as well though since I was holding the item while buyers were trying to decide if they really wanted the item. Next time I sell on here, I'm just going to take the best offer I get by a pre-set date, like I'm doing now, instead of working through individual offers one by one (or I'll use eBay and post a link on here).

I don't like eBay because the seller loses due to fees, and sometimes pure idiotic buyers.
Forums are simple - I got your payment, I ship it. That's it.

I'd much rather sell an item for $135 on forums than for $150 on eBay.

You should only hold up while the best bid is being pondered. Next time you get a higher bid, you take it! (Jordan Chase from Dexter, anyone?)

I reconsidered immediately when I heard that the board was being held for my lower bid—I didn't want you to feel gyp'd by me just because I asked first, when there were other people who could pay more. Being the nice guy that I sometimes feel like being, I excused myself from the table.

I think you are a stand-up guy for reserving it for me (and for owning a otaku Filco), so now I will feel bad if the delay causes you to lose any sale you might have snagged. Anyway, I hope something falls through for this board. Always happy to see people spreading the Filco love.

Thanks Johnny :D. No worries, I sold the board and just emailed the invoice to the buyer. I actually had to turn down an offer, so there wasn't a shortage of buyer interest. This forum has some pretty nice people on it :) -- thanks for being such a considerate buyer!!
