Numlock light on, no response after wakeup from Sleep mode
« on: Thu, 31 March 2011, 07:43:10 »
Anyone else experience an inoperative keyboard with the Numlock light on after waking a computer from sleep mode?  Cured by unplugging and replugging the USB Adapter from the computer.

Specifics:  I have seen this on more than one IBM M Series keyboard while using the Ziotek adapter with both PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports.  Computer is a T Series Thinkpad, about four years old running Windows XP.

Just wondered if it was a common XP or Thinkpad fault, or if this specific USB adapter does not like to be awakened - like some of the rest of us!  Anyone?

Yep, Ripster, Floppy is the culprit!  As soon as you unplug and replug all is well, but a little inconvenient, at times  I guess I'll have to break down and buy a Blue Cube and see if that is any better.  The generic GE USB dual adapter wouldn't work, either.

Interestingly enough, plugged in to the Thinkkpad Dock's PS/2 port, a Model M works perfectly without adaption.  Those of you with docking stations may not need adapters!

Perhaps IBM (who designed the Thinkpad dock before Lenovo took over) kept things backward compatible on purpose.   TPF
