Brown/ Blue/ Red
« on: Tue, 03 May 2011, 19:25:02 »
I know everybody has been talking about this for years and years~
and there has been numerous threads debating about this,
but I'm not here for that. Not gonna talk about which is better or not better.
I believe they are made differently, not be better than others.
Just made to be different.

I just want to hear your thoughts on the keyboard you are using.
I currently own Blue and Red.
They are both Filco. And Red is the Majestouch2 full board.
Blue is tenkeyless blank keycaps.
They each have its own charm. Blue feels the best in typing of course.
I don't feel annoyed at all, and my friends are not annoyed either.
But my fingers fatigue kinda quick when I type with Blue for some time.
So I moved to Red, and I like it. Although it feels really light, and there's
really not distinct middle joint feel of it, the keys are lighter, so my fingers like it.
Although my ears feel a little bored :( haha

Anyway...
I have simple questions too.
1. Not talking about the noise, how do blue and brown differ in the typing feel?
meaning do they feel different? like when you try typing with your earphones on.
2. Which feels lighter? or heavier? or the same?
3. how does the brown compare with Red?
I know there's this middle joint for brown and Red doesn't.
But other than that, which feels more comfortable?

4. Overall, what is your favorite switch? XD and Why?

P.S. I like my Reds too, but I miss type alot since I cannot really feel whether I typed it or not.
My fingers just have to bottom out often for it. But my fingers don't hurt so that's a good thing.
So I am looking to buy browns also. What do you guys think?

IMO linear switches (black and red) are better for gaming.  I like the smooth action and don't need tactile feed back when playing, and tactile boards actually annoy me when gaming.  I can type on blacks better than I can reds.

For typing I like browns the best.  The constant click of the blues kinda tires me, but they are nice to type on.

The feel of browns and blues are totally different.  Yes they both give tactile feed back but in different ways.  The blue is a sharp pronounced click or snap, whatever you want to call it.  Browns are more of a long bump or dirty feel to the key press.

I just tried every switch and I found that I like red and blue the best.  Blues feel a lot better than brown because blue has a bump that is way easier to feel in blues, plus the nice click.  Reds are awesome too!  Reds, as you know, are linear so you cannot feel anything, but brown is a little bump that is hard to feel, almost like it is not there.   I think you have the best of both worlds right now.  If I could, id buy reds and blues, but I just have reds for now.
