Solder ALPS compatibles

Can you switch between the varients of alps on a board?

I'm talking acer -> complicated white -> simplified XM alps, etc?

Acer switches use plungers on top of a membrane, not a PCB.

Ah. I haven't had them apart, because there appears to be no way to open them from the top like alps.

Edit: What soldering iron would you recommend? The one I have is... somewhere, but the most I ever did with it is combining/repairing USB cables. I don't know if its up to something like that. I also don't have anything to desolder, looks like the easiest is a braid from some random googling.
