Ducky DK9000G2 Red Switch
« on: Wed, 18 May 2011, 02:57:17 »
I'm about to spend $139.95 on this Ducky DK9000G2 Red switch board. Before I do so, anyone wanna give me some opinions about it?

It has recently been discounted from $149.95.. and I think it is pretty good timing to purchase one.

Hope to hear from you guys soon.

Cheers.

I've contacted Mechkeyboards regarding G2 models and the person in charge claims that G2 are whole lots better than the previous versions.

Anyone use Ducky G2 as well?

It looks really really nice, and compared to the filcos majestouch 2 price, this is really nice, I would totally go for it!

A very limited edition pearl white DK9008 G2 with red switches is supposed to become available from the middle of this month, meaning any day now.

I don't think that I will be spending money on limited edition keyboards now because the price may be exceeding my budget.

This DK9000 red switch seems to be fitting into my budget quite well and yet, it's the red switch that I've been excited to try. However, there have been some negative opinions regarding Ducky particularly from some seniors here. Thus, I am hesitating. The other reason that I am interested in this is because the price tagged to Filco Majestouch 2 red switch  is around $200+ in Australia and cost quite similarly if I import from Amazon US as well. In other words, there is a total $60 difference.

Hmm...

you need to keep a few things in mind when reading these 'opinions'

  • most of them have never touched a ducky, let alone own one.
  • the negative reviews have been over issues observed on the DK10XX line of keyboards, which is less superior to the DK900X line of keyboards. (and subsequent reviews suggest that they've been resolved in more recent production runs)
  • the G2 series of keyboards have an even more stringent quality control tolerance, and the parts used in them are also of higher quality

also, i'm not convinced this is a "G2" keyboard, or if it is, it's not of their "limited edition" line like the DK9008G2 was.  The keyboard doesn't have a lot of the signature features the previous board had, and their website doesn't have anything claiming it either.

The seller told me that it's a G2 keyboard. So it's not?

As for OSX, doesn't matter. My wife wouldn't let me touching her iMac. XD

Fix'd.

FYI, some of members here are official Ducky haters.

P/S: I am a Razer hater.

I would ask for a clear shot of the aluminium plate on the back of the keyboard to confirm.  perhaps it's a G2, and just not 'limited edition'.
I did not mention that it was limited edition though. Did the site state that? I didn't notice.. sorry. Probably my bad.

I can't keep the Ducky product line straight.  Their website doesn't help either.  In fact other than Filco ALL asian keyboard sites are fairly indecipherable.

It still cracks me up Leopold designer doesn't mention the 18KRO over USB.

True, I can see what you mean there. If there hasn't been so much talks about Ducky which mostly the negative sides on GH, I'd purchase it long ago. Now, the price has dropped $10.. it appeals to me more but I still hesitate. Sigh.. I don't wanna regret after purchasing it even though I can use some money this month because of the bonus from work. :(

It says on their web site for the DUCKY DK9000G2 RED:
#   Switch Windows and Alt Keys (For Mac users).

So sounds like they are saying it would work with OSX. Does it not?
