Noppoo choc mid 87 vs Keycool 87 vs other budget tenkeyless
« on: Wed, 29 January 2014, 09:46:17 »
My question is quite easy, any pros/cons with Noppoo choc mid 87 or Keycool 87?

i find the Keycool quite nice since it has the LED's in the caps and scroll lock keys. But what does the F1, F2, F3 and F4 shortcutkeys do, and are they programmable or mapped to standard software?

is there any Noppoo with blank tops and printed fronts?

My KeyCool 87 works very well, I was very pleasantly surprised.  It has MX reds and the white case.  Not a single problem with it.

F1 to F4 probably do things like Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer (maybe), Calculator and music player, although as I primarily use it on a Mac these keys have no effect.

F12 is a winkey lock - it illuminates when the Windows key is disabled - useful for gaming (but again useless on the Mac).

KeyCool is also standard layout, so almost any replacement keycap set will fit.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

You can't reprogram the keys. They're premapped to whatever the legend on the cap says it is

Thats nice, then i know that!

are there any other keyboards with the LEDs under the caps and scroll lock keys?

the only ones i have seen are the keycool and the leopolds, both have the rounded cases wich is a bit of a turnoff.

I want something like the filco ninja but with leds in the keys and detatchable usb (thats why i think the keycool or leopold is the best option)
