Noppoo vs the world
« on: Sun, 25 September 2011, 04:21:23 »
So I'm going for a second mech keyboard and decided to go with MX Blue and Tenkeyless(for the first time). After searching around for some time I thought the noppoo mini was the right choice, with the F keys being right above number keys(which is awesome for gaming), the Media Keys and the overall look of the keyboard which unlike many, I find very charming.

But then again I heard many people say that the build quality is not as solid as other keyboards and there seems to be an issue with the spacebar.

So I was wondering if a Filco or Leopold would be a better option? I play games quite often but I'm mainly typing/programming

I didn't have any problems with the noppoo I had and would probally have kept it if it weren't that the layout didn't come in ISO and I couldn't get used to missing 1key with the ANSI layout

The only other problem I had was the spacebar being squeeky after a months usage

I have a noppoo and the build quality is really good with mine.

I also think that some posts of mine indicated a problem with the spacebar. Please note that this is a misinterpretation. It rattles only a bit when touched slightly (without activating the key itself) but it is nothing that can't be solved with some lubricant!

I think the noppoo choc mini is one of the best keyboards you can get for that money!

I have a choc pro and found that all the stabilized keys needed a dose of white lithium grease to keep from rattling and clanking.  However once that was fixed it seemed like a quite nice board.  Only thing is that it apparently doesn't play nice with Macs.
Filco Majestouch-2 with Cherry Corp. doubleshot keys - Leopold Tenkeyless Tactile Force with Wyse doubleshots - Silicon Graphics 9500900 - WASD V1 - IBM Model M 52G9658 - Noppoo Choc Pro with Cherry lasered PBT keycaps - Wyse 900866-01 - Cherry G80-8200LPBUS/07 - Dell AT101W - several Cherry G81s (future doubleshot donors) (order of current preference) (dang I have too many keyboards, I really only need two)

I don't have any issues with build quality on my Noppoo. The layout actually started to get on my nerves, along with a broken cable, and that forced me to get a Filco.

My Noppoo is good.  Like any "mini" keyboard, you may have some learning curve issues with the layout.  Well, except for the HHKB.  The HHKB has the most intuitive "mini" layout by far.

Over 30 noppoo per month I sold on ebay and 100 per month in retail store in China. For last three months, only one problem was reported.

Filco will be the best, with 50 dollar higher price. Or a 350 realforce might be? Noppoo win at its price, oh yes, new Noppoo come with POM caps for Black color or PBT For White.

I have a feeling POM doesn't work well in white.  I think Cherry does the same thing.  POM for black, PBT for white.
